We’re really proud of what we’ve been able to achieve with the Supercheap Auto Wildcard program to date. There’s been some incredible results, and it’s an enjoyable program for us to run each year, and we love representing Supercheap Auto, alongside all of their valued Trade Partners that come onboard for the program.”

“We’ve continued the trend of having an established driver with an up-and-coming rookie, and I recognized that Zach was one of those up and comers and pushed hard for him to be in the car this year. We’ve got big expectations on the program. We want to get results of course, but we want to be just as good off track as we are on track. I know presentation and professionalism are right at the top of Supercheap Auto’s expectations, and that mirrors us at Triple Eight as well.”

“We have got some of the best crew in the entire field with the Wildcard program in Ty Freele and Wes McDougall who both understand how to win and have shown that for a long period of time. A great crew, paired again with Craig Lowndes, who we know always rises to the occasion. So, there’s no excuses – we’ll give it absolutely everything it deserves.”

Andre Korte, General Manager e-Commerce and Marketing, Supercheap Auto:

“The 2025 Supercheap Auto Wildcard is looking fantastic, and we’re excited to reveal this year’s livery as we launch into another thrilling season.”

“This year’s program sees Craig Lowndes return alongside rising star Zach Bates, marking an exciting new chapter in our ongoing support of Australian motorsport talent.”

“We’re proud of our partnership with Triple Eight Race Engineering and the Supercheap Auto Wildcard program which is in its fifth consecutive season, reinforcing Supercheap Auto’s long-standing commitment to the sport and its passionate fanbase.”

Craig Lowndes, Driver #888 Chevrolet Camaro, Supercheap Auto Wildcard:

“It’s always a challenge to try and mix up the livery, but I think they’ve done a really, really good job this year, particularly with the silhouettes down the centre of the car. It definitely stands out. I think that as people get closer to the car, they’ll see the details of what’s going on. So that design side of it, I’m impressed with.”

“Supercheap Auto always puts on a great event, especially for launches. I always love and enjoy being part of it. They don’t hold back with the lengths that they go to for events like this. And, again, it’s just it’s all about the fans and the interaction of the people.”

“The benefit this year for the Wildcard program is that Zach has a Super2 Championship under his belt. He comes with another twelve months of experience on that side of it. He’s very mature. I also think that he understands the program because he sees what’s been going on over the last couple of years. And I’m really excited about using this as a platform for him to go further in his career like the drivers have in the past.”

Zach Bates, Driver #888 Chevrolet Camaro, Supercheap Auto Wildcard:

“It’s been a long-anticipated wait, but it’s definitely worth the wait. The second half of the year is going to be extremely exciting for the whole team. I’m very excited to represent Supercheap Auto and Triple Eight as we go into the Enduro season and a solo Wildcard appearance. The car looks awesome as always, and it’s exciting to see how much effort Supercheap Auto put into these launch events, it really is second to none for a smaller wildcard program such as this one.”

“It’s obviously an extremely exciting opportunity for me. I don’t think I’ve ever prepared as much as I have to be ready. The Triple Eight crew have been super welcoming at the workshop, and the Supercheap Auto team have been so awesome in getting me involved in everything. I am joining one of the most successful teams in Supercars and it’s this program is huge for my development – let alone teaming up with a guy like Craig Lowndes. It’s truly a dream come true, bring it on!”

Red Bull Ampol Racing team drivers Broc Feeney and Will Brown have both signed three-year contract extensions that will see them with the team until the end of the 2029 Supercars season.

Back in 2023 both Feeney and Brown signed contracts with Triple Eight until the end of 2026 with Will Brown joining the team as a replacement for Supercars Championship winner Shane Van Gisbergen at the time. This latest extension adds three years to the current contracts for both Red Bull Ampol Racing drivers.

The team announced the driver contract extensions in a video using fictional characters Wheeler and B-Feen, a throwback to the 2016 promotional videos featuring J Dub (Whincup), Cappy (Lowndes) and Gizzy (Van Gisbergen), the team’s drivers at the time.

CHECK OUT THE VIDEO HERE: https://youtu.be/dsAGAzTomOQ

Brown, currently in his second year with Triple Eight, won the 2024 Supercars Championship in his first year with the Red Bull Ampol Racing team.

In his two seasons with Triple Eight, Brown has started forty-five Supercars races, winning six and finishing on the podium twenty-eight times. Consistent top-three finishes in 2024 saw Brown claim the 2024 Supercars Championship over teammate Broc Feeney by 222 points at the final round in Adelaide.

While at Triple Eight, Brown has also driven as a part of the NASCAR Cup Series in the United States in both 2024 and 2025, as well as competed in the Formula Regional Oceanic Championship for open wheel racing where he won the 2025 New Zealand Grand Prix.

Broc Feeney, currently leading the Supercars Sprint Cup going into the final round at Queensland Raceway, has been driving with the Red Bull Ampol Racing team since entering Supercars full-time in 2022 as a nineteen-year-old.

In his five seasons with Triple Eight, Feeney has started over one hundred Supercars races winning twenty-two and finishing on the podium forty-one times. Before being elevated to the Red Bull Ampol Racing team, Feeney drove as part of Triple Eight’s Wildcard program at Bathurst with Russell Ingall in 2021 after winning the Super2 series that same year.

2025 has been Feeney’s best season to date with nine pole positions and ten wins from twenty-one races.

Feeney and Brown will take to the track at Queensland Raceway for the Century Batteries Ipswich Super 440, the Queensland-based team’s ‘home’ race from 8 August.

Triple Eight announced in early 2025 a move from GM after a sixteen-year relationship to be the Supercars Homologation Team for Ford as a part of a long term strategic and commercial partnership that will see the team race Ford Mustangs from 2026 driven by Feeney and Brown.

Jamie Whincup
Managing Director
Triple Eight Race Engineering

“In motorsport, it’s not easy to find a genuinely positive dynamic between two drivers. So to have two guys who not only get along well but are also fully committed to the bigger picture—driving each other forward and lifting the whole team—is something quite special.”

“That’s exactly why I’ve pushed hard to lock in this driver lineup for the long term. It’s a massive win for Triple Eight. Two of the best drivers in the field choosing to build their future here speaks volumes about what we’re creating.”

“At the end of the day, drivers want to be in the best machinery, with the best team around them. Will and Broc wouldn’t have made this commitment if they didn’t believe Triple Eight could continue to deliver at the highest level. Their decision is a huge vote of confidence in our crew and everything we stand for.”

“Personally, I just love what these two bring to the table. They are, without doubt, two of the most naturally talented drivers in the country. Their driving is dynamic and exciting—it’s the kind of stuff that makes people fall in love with the sport. But it’s their attitude that really stands out. They’ve both got an incredible work ethic, not just when the helmet’s on, but in everything they do. They’re the kind of people who return their shopping trolley to the rack when they’re done—genuinely good humans who care about the little things.”

“Their enthusiasm is infectious and aligns perfectly with the mindset we’re building here: glass half full, team-first, possibilities are endless. That kind of energy lifts everyone around them, and it’s a big reason why we’re so excited about the future.”

Will Brown
Driver #1 Chevrolet Camaro
Red Bull Ampol Racing

“It’s cool to re-sign, obviously it’s fairly early, I had another year on my contract, but I think it’s cool after winning the Championship last year that the team has come to us and wanted to re-sign us sooner than later to lock us down.”

“For me there wasn’t a question mark, no question mark about the team in any way, I’m very happy here, the team does such a fantastic job. So to re-sign with this team is amazing and this soon makes it even better. Looking forward to having my future sewn up and just concentrating on the racing.”

“Obviously, you have Broc going pretty well, I was really happy to hear that both Broc and I signed on together. For me it’s about having a competitive teammate, which I absolutely do have this year that’s for sure. He’s been doing a fantastic job, but it pushes you to be better and it also keeps the team operating at a very high level, that’s all of our crew, all of our crew are the best of the best and if we can have that in drivers it sets us up.”

Broc Feeney
Driver #88 Chevrolet Camaro
Red Bull Ampol Racing

“It’s awesome to sign a second contract with Triple Eight. After signing a long term deal initially, then to sign on for another multi year deal is really exciting.”

“For me, there was no other place that I’d rather be here in Australia and, you know, I’ve always loved being with Triple Eight here so it’s awesome to already be renewing for the future. I think the results this year are showing the strong relationship that we’ve got here, and Triple Eight’s not one to go through drivers, a lot of the guys have been here for a very long time, so hopefully I can continue to get the results and hopefully some big trophies to go with it in the next few years.”

“Obviously Will and I get along pretty well, it’s always good to get along really well and work together well and I think it’s really good for team and really good for the future, locking in younger guys that can stick around for a long time, it’s exciting. I mean, now I don’t have to think about anything else except for winning for another few years, which is a good mentality to have.”

The most memorable moments from one of Australian motorsports’ most accomplished careers are a three peat win at the Bathurst 1000 in 2006, for the inaugural Peter Brock Trophy, then again in 2007 and 2008, and claiming six Supercars Championships in a dominant seven year stretch from 2008 with a seventh title in 2017.

In 2022, after retiring from full time Supercars driving, Whincup assumed the role of Managing Director of Triple Eight Race Engineering and Team Principal of the Red Bull Ampol Racing team where he has focused on building a successful future for Triple Eight. This will now be his sole focus, where key milestones already include a manufacturer and homologation team switch from GM to Ford, long term signings for current Supercars drivers Broc Feeney and Will Brown, establishing Triple Eight’s own Engine program and an expanding manufacturing arm for the business.

The confirmation that Nick Percat is joining the team as well as news current co-driver Scott Pye continuing on for a third season finalises the full driver line up for the Brisbane based squad ahead of a season that will also see Red Bull Ampol Racing change manufacturer and homologation team duties bringing new cars to track in 2026.

Scott Pye, who made his Supercars debut in 2013 and has won multiple races since, has been with Triple Eight Race Engineering since 2024 and will enter his third season co-driving for Will Brown at the Brisbane based team. The duo won the Sandown 500 on Pye’s debut with Triple Eight and backed that up with third at the Bathurst 1000 in 2024. Recently at The Bend round of the Enduro Cup, Scott Pye together with teammate Will Brown drove the #1 car from sixteenth on the grid to fourth place. Scott Pye will again partner with Will Brown for rounds at The Bend and Bathurst next season.

The 2026 Supercars Championship season will begin at Sydney Motorsport Park on February 20 with the Enduro Cup for co-drivers being held at The Bend on September 11 and Bathurst on October 8.

Nick Percat
Driver #88 Chevrolet Camaro
Red Bull Ampol Racing

“I am extremely excited to be driving at Triple Eight and to be honest it was the only team I wanted to be with. Putting myself with the best possible team on and off the track with the calibre of staff and drivers at Triple Eight was the priority for me.”

“To be co-driving with Broc is very cool, to be with someone with such raw speed but also the dedication to go with it has me seriously excited. We’ve driven together before and also get along really well off track and out of the garage. I’ve also known Broc’s race engineer Marty since my early racing days so it was a perfect fit.”

“To be stepping into the seat Jamie was in is a bit of an honour. Jamie was the guy we all tried to beat for so long and his ability inside the car is seriously incredible. I was fortunate enough to have a few battles with him over the years but more often than not he was schooling all of us!”

“I’m excited to work closely with him and see how he goes about it all both as Managing Director but in the garage and in pit lane as well. Although he’s not in the #88 I’m sure there is still plenty he can teach me. Having a literal racer as your boss is pretty unique but a very big asset for us, the drivers.”

Jamie Whincup
Manging Director
Triple Eight Race Engineeering

“What a journey it’s been. Since starting my Triple Eight Race Engineering ownership back in 2018, I have always said I will continue to drive the car as long as the management team and I feel like I’m the best person for the job. In 2021 it was clear that Broc Feeney was ready to debut in Supercars and needed a break to get in. This allowed me to move into the teams Managing Director role which I’m continuing to love while striving to improve and be the best I can be there.”

“Now the opportunity has come up where a leading main game driver in Nick Percat has decided to pursue a co-driver role and we are thrilled he chose this team to do it with. I’ve absolutely loved my time with Broc and the #88 crew, there were people keen for me to continue on but I’ve made the call that Nick is our best chance for success to team up with Broc for next season. I truly feel the driver line up we’ll have in 2026 will compliment the rest of our superstar crew to give us the best chance to showcase what we do best.”

“I would like to officially welcome Nick to the Triple Eight family and I’m very grateful to have both Nick and Scott showing trust in us to deliver them fast and reliable race cars.”

“I’m not saying Bathurst was my last race in a Supercar. At this stage I will not be driving a Red Bull Ampol Racing race car in the 2026 or 2027 Enduros, and right now have no other plans but to continue to be a better Managing Director. I’m not shutting the door on driving ever again, it’s not something to read anything into either, right now have no other plans than Managing Director of Triple Eight and I’m looking forward to putting everything into that.”

It’s even more exciting being my hometown race that the fans and the brands we work with are making it extra special for the team.”

“To get the opportunity to add my creativity and passion into things like artwork, shirts and hats, designs for the car along with Will and the rest of the team is unreal. There are so many cool touches that you’ll be able to see looking around the Gold Coast and at the track on the weekend. Looking forward to racing on the weekend but until then it’s great to have moments like these happen.”

Gus Eagleton
Artist, Broc Feeney Mural

“It’s awesome to be part of something that celebrates Broc ahead of his home race. I’m stoked to be involved in the action in some way. Hopefully this artwork brings him a bit of good luck for the race!”

“The mural was created entirely with aerosol, featuring Broc Feeney and the Red Bull Ampol Racing team for the Gold Coast 500. The colours, scale, and energy all come together to match the excitement of the race, capturing the moment the team hopefully takes out a win!”

Ryan McNamara
Founder/CEO, Locked Down

“Not only is this a home event for Broc, but it’s also a home event for Locked Down. That makes this project even more special for all of us. To be able to collaborate so closely with Broc by taking his personal ideas, his connection to the Gold Coast and turning that vision into something truly unique has been an incredible experience. Having only eighty eight of these signature hats available makes these a collectors item & something special for the community.”

“We obsessed over every detail of these hats to make sure they didn’t just look good but carried a story with them. I genuinely believe we’ve created something truly unique, a design that stands apart from anything else in the world. It’s more than just an event hat but it’s a reflection of Broc’s ideas, the energy of the event and what we stand for as a brand.”

The Gold Coast 500 starts on Friday 24 October at Surfers Paradise and will be broadcast free-to-air on the Seven Network and the 7Plus app, and on Fox Sports and Kayo Sports.

Triple Eight Race Engineering and Supercheap Auto are super excited to reveal a tweaked Supercheap Auto Racing livery for this year’s endurance races: the upcoming Sandown 500 and Bathurst 1000.

Launched on a stunning morning at Queensland Raceway in front of passionate and excited Supercheap Auto team and partners, the #888 Chevrolet Camaro LTZ features a swash of a dark navy and grey lines across lower sections of the car, on its roof, and across the rear spoiler, in a nod to the recently launched Supercheap Auto Trade platform.

Young gun and #888 driver, Cooper Murray undertook his first major assessment in a Gen-3 supercar at the Darwin Triple Crown, where he turned heads up and down pitlane with impressive speed across the event, becoming only the fifth driver in Supercars history to set the fastest lap in his maiden race. Despite 22nd and 25th place race finishes, Murray’s weekend was headlined with a blistering fifth fastest lap to make the Top Ten Shootout in the Sunday qualifying session.

Despite a disappointing coming together with another car on the first lap of Race 12, Murray was still able to post the fourth fastest lap with a damaged Camaro.

After a promising solo debut at Darwin, the focus now switches to the two driver events with Murray partnering Supercars legend and all-time fan favourite Craig Lowndes. This follows a continuation of the “master and apprentice” theme with the Supercheap Auto Racing wildcard where young up-and-comers have previously made their case for full-time seats in the Supercars Championship.

The wildcard program began in 2021, where Broc Feeney was paired with legend Russell Ingall, and more recently, Declan Fraser and Zane Goddard alongside the seven-time Bathurst 1000 winner in Craig Lowndes.

The new livery went public today at Queensland Raceway with its next on-track showing on September 2 for a full test day at Queensland Raceway, in preparation for the Sandown 500, 13-16th September and the prestigious Bathurst 1000, 10-13th October.

Cooper Murray – Supercheap Auto Racing Driver

“I’m super stoked on the enduro livery. It’s neat how some minor updates can change the look and feel of the car, and somehow, they’ve made it look faster than the previous ones! I’m a pretty lucky guy to have support from Supercheap Auto with this wildcard program. Looking at the event here today, the turnout of their staff, and how they presented it all, it makes me feel super lucky. I can’t wait to provide the team and supporters of the program with some good results over the next two races!

“I learnt a lot from my pretty incredible main-game debut in Darwin. It was a nonstop weekend of learning, and it was awesome to be able to put our true pace together on Sunday and get into the shootout, which was really cool. Unfortunately, we had a car run over us in the race, but it’s all fixed now and ready to go. It was cool to show that the car’s fast, I’m fast and that we could be out the front.”

“Considering I’ve already driven a Super2 car at both Sandown and Bathurst, it’ll be a bit easier than going into Darwin where I’d never driven a supercar there before, only a Porsche Cup car. It was a bit of learning on the go and had me probably a bit behind the eight-ball compared to the others. But going into Sandown and Bathurst, I’m quite confident that I’ll be able to be on the pace, straight away.”

“It’s every kid’s dream to be able to share the car with Lowndesy for Sandown and the Bathurst. He’s got a lot of experience behind him. To have someone of that calibre at my disposal, I’m going to be a sponge, learn as much as I can off him and hopefully, I can teach him a couple of things, but I doubt it! “

“I think if we can get through the weekend and complete every lap in the race, that would be the goal. But if we could come away with potentially a top 10, that would be pretty cool. I personally think we can do a bit better than that, but let’s just see how it goes and hopefully, we come away with a good result!”

Craig Lowndes – Supercheap Auto Racing Driver

“I’m super stoked on the enduro livery.
Triple Eight Race Engineering is thrilled to announce the signing of Zach Bates, who will join the team’s driving roster and planned continuation of the Supercheap Auto Racing wildcard program in 2025 alongside Craig Lowndes in the #888 Chevrolet Camaro.

The 20-year-old, currently competing in his second year of the Dunlop Super2 Championship, holds a 39-point championship lead entering the Adelaide 500 finale after claiming his first Super2 win at the Perth SuperSprint in May.
Bates, the son of rally driver Rick Bates and the nephew of multiple Australian champion Neal Bates, began his racing career in karts at age 10, and previously won the Formula Ford national title in 2021. Following his Formula Ford success, Zach carved out a brilliant Toyota 86 career, winning nine races in 2021 including eight in a row. In 2022, Zach won seven of 15 races.

Since the commencement of Triple Eight’s Supercheap Auto-backed wildcard program in 2021, the team has seen talented young drivers in Broc Feeney, Declan Fraser, Zane Goddard and Cooper Murray make their case for full-time seats in the Supercars Championship.

Supercheap Auto Racing’s 2022 Bathurst 1000 campaign delivered an eighth-place finish, the highest place wildcard finish in the history of the Great Race. The team’s 2024 Sandown 500 entry, piloted by Craig Lowndes and Cooper Murray, crossed the checkered flag in an impressive fifth position, securing a dominant one-two-five finish for Triple Eight Race Engineering across the team’s three entries. Murray also secured Triple Eight’s first top ten shootout appearance for the wildcard entry at the Darwin Triple Crown in June.

Supercheap Auto Racing’s 2025 season launch date, livery reveal and event entry announcements will be announced in due course.

Zach Bates, Driver, Supercheap Auto Racing
“I’m absolutely stoked to be joining the Supercheap Auto Racing wildcard next year. It’s been an absolute dream of mine to race in Supercars, and to race with a team like Triple Eight alongside Craig Lowndes is amazing. I’ll have a lot to learn off him which is a great thing, and I can’t wait to get stuck into it.

“My main focus is to learn as much as I can from both Craig and the team. I want to put myself in the best position to secure a full-time drive and I believe this is my best opportunity. There probably hasn’t been a racing situation that Craig hasn’t been involved in, so I can’t wait to pick his brain about everything, both on-and-off track which will be very valuable for me heading into the future.

“I obviously still have a job to do at Adelaide to secure the Super2 championship, but I’m stoked to get this news out. It’s a good way to finish off the year but I’ll still be working very hard over the summer break to get ready for 2025 to maximise this opportunity.

“I want to give a huge thanks to the entire team at Supercheap Auto and Triple Eight Race Engineering for this exciting opportunity. I’d also like to thank Walkinshaw Andretti United for the past couple of years, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time with the team and look forward to fighting for the Super2 Championship for them in Adelaide. Finally, I want to thank my friends and family for their support in my racing career, and hopefully this is just as exciting for them as it is for me.”

It’s great to be able to give back to the sport that I love and share the knowledge and wisdom that I’ve been able to create over the past 30-plus years that I’ve been involved.
Friends, Colleagues, Partners,

At the end of 2021, as I stepped aside from the role of Managing Director and Team Principal, I agreed with the shareholders of Triple Eight that I would carry on as non-executive Chairman of the company for at least 12 months.

Now, three years later, I feel that it is time for me to move on from this truly incredible chapter of my life, and stand down from that position at the end of this year.

Over the last two decades, Triple Eight Race Engineering has established itself as the best and most successful professional race team in Australian motorsport history. That’s for one reason, and one reason alone; specifically, the unbelievable group of high calibre folks who have worked for, and with, T8 during those 20 plus years.

Great people, and great commercial partners, have come, and sometimes gone, throughout that period, and others have been there all through the journey to this day.

Top performing sports teams are built on a blend of culture, passion, and single minded drive. Triple Eight remains the epitome of that today and I am truly as proud of the business now as I ever have been.

I therefore thank, from the bottom of my heart, all those who have worked alongside me over the years and helped create the biggest shelf of trophies the sport has ever seen in this country.

Whilst I am incredibly indebted to a huge number of people, many of whom remain friends, and I am hesitant to call out individuals, there are three stars that can’t escape and without whom Triple Eight just couldn’t have succeeded, namely;

Ken McNamara, of KRE Race Engines, the unsung hero of Australian motorsport who has built more race, and championship, winning engines than everyone else combined and just continues to get-shit-done whatever happens;

Nuri Paterson, the “mother” of the Triple Eight team since 2005 in her position as Chief Financial Officer and everything else besides! My brick through thick and thin, who truly understood my philosophy that there’s only ever two places money can be; in our account or not in our account;

And a certain Craig Lowndes who believed my, highly effective (oft employed and for which I make no apologies), used car dealer spiel back in 2004, and has remained loyal to the team ever since. Without CL, it would have been a hell of a lot harder to create the juggernaut that T8 is today. Our first race winner and a Bathurst superstar.

I leave the team in great hands. The shareholder group is the best in the pit lane and more than capable of giving Jamie and the team the support required behind the scenes.

My final formal act as Chairman has been to propose, and endorse, the election of Rex Devantier to that position, effective 1.1.25. Rex has worked with TQ since Big Ben was a wristwatch and is very well qualified to keep the Board in order and on track. He’s a behind-the-scenes kind of guy and that’s exactly what Triple Eight needs now.

No-one at T8 has ever really worked for me, but hundreds have worked with me and come out of the trenches alongside me. The success over the years has been yours as much as it’s been mine and you’ve all made me look better than I really am.

I can only say that it’s been an honour and a privilege to be a part of this almost implausible ride, and the memories will remain with me so long as I’m the right side of the turf. Thank you all.

All the very best, RD.

Jamie Whincup will continue to serve as Triple Eight Managing Director and Team Principal.

Roland Dane will continue as non-executive chairman of Triple Eight.

Triple Eight Race Engineering welcomes Earl Evans and Steve Blackmore to the team, who have purchased Jessica Dane’s 30% share of the championship-winning Brisbane-based outfit.

Both Earl and Steve have established themselves over the last two decades as some of Australia’s most distinguished businessmen, holding the CEO roles of their respective businesses; Shaw and Partners Financial Services and Southern Cross Truck Rentals. They are both avid motorsport fans, sponsoring various motorsport teams and drivers through their respective business portfolios. Both bring extensive experience as proven business operators, having navigated numerous economic cycles.

Jessica boasts 15 years of experience in various roles at the Banyo-based powerhouse, which included positions in sub-assembly, Team Coordinator, Communications Manager and Team Manager. She became a co-owner of the team in 2015, before relocating to the United States at the end of 2023 where she currently holds the position of Motorsports Integration Manager at General Motors.

The restructured shareholdings see Jamie Whincup, who bought into the business in 2018, retain his 30% ownership in the team, as well as Tony Quinn who retains his 40% stake. Former Triple Eight Owner and Managing Director, Roland Dane, will remain as the team’s non-Executive Chairman.

The transition of ownership will take immediate effect. Triple Eight’s focus is fully on delivering the best results possible on and off the track for our partners, fans and stakeholders this year and into the future.

Jamie Whincup, Managing Director, Triple Eight Race Engineering: “I’m thrilled to announce these exciting strategic changes as it prepares Triple Eight for the next phase of growth.

“Firstly, we can’t ignore Jess’ enormous contribution to the team over her incredible tenure. She has been an invaluable member of the Triple Eight family since day dot working in all facets of the business. We understand Jess’s commitment to her career aspirations in the US, and we know she will always remain connected to the foundations her father RD (Roland Dane) built.

“In saying that, we are thrilled to welcome Earl and Steve to our shareholder group. Their wealth of business experience will enhance our team and support our continued evolution, strengthening our current programs and engaging new opportunities. Their passion and expertise align perfectly with our vision for the future, and I’m excited to see where we can take it.”

Jessica Dane, Former Shareholder, Triple Eight Race Engineering: “This has certainly been one of the most difficult decisions of my life.

“I’m incredibly proud of what Triple Eight has achieved over the years and honoured to have been able to play a small part along the way. However, I know it’s the right decision. While I’ve lived in the US, I’ve hated that I can only give a fraction of my time, energy and capacity to a team that means so very much to me.

“Some of my earliest memories are at British race tracks in the mid-90s watching the Triple Eight Race Engineering Vauxhall Vectras cutting laps in the British Touring Car Championship. The team has literally been in my family since those days! Additionally, I need to be able to give my all to settling into life in the US and every obligation I have in Australia detracts from that, which I don’t feel is fair for Triple Eight.

“I am delighted that two such passionate people in Earl and Steve are joining Triple Eight. While their business experience is undoubtedly an asset for the board of directors, I felt very strongly that the team deserves people who care about the success and longevity of motorsport as a whole.

“I am very grateful to them for this opportunity to hand 30% of Triple Eight over to people who I know in my gut want the best for the sport, as well as every single member of the team, present and past, who has contributed to some of my very best life memories.”

Earl Evans, Shareholder, Triple Eight Race Engineering: “I was looking for an equity stake in a Supercars team and a business of large scale and size that excelled outside of Supercars, in this case Triple Eight’s engineering and manufacturing entity. Obviously, the team’s success was an added attraction, and there’s certainly a challenge ahead to maintain that success, but at the end of the day it was a perfect fit for me.

“I’ve followed Supercars since I was very young. I’ve watched every Bathurst and every Sandown since I was five years old and have now followed the series for over five decades, so I know the sport very well. I had a taste of Supercars as a sponsor over the past couple of years, and the next logical step was to take an equity position and to take on ownership, that’s why I was looking around in the sport for an opportunity and that’s when this presented itself.

“Our job will be to sit on the board, and my role will be to support the current structure that’s been wildly successful in whatever way I can, whether that be in the commercial space, my business experience or other ways. Essentially, I will be there to support Jamie (Whincup, Managing Director) and the team to continue with its success – that’s my vison. I’ve been in business for 35-years and have a lot of contacts, so hopefully I can break open my rolodex to help the team whoever might be needed.

“5000-percent you will see my face at plenty of Supercars races into the future, I’m so excited to get stuck into it. With the added responsibilities of team ownership, I’m looking forward to amassing myself with this great team wherever I can. I know this team is there to compete and win races at the end of the day, but to me, it was a natural progression to go from team sponsor to team owner, and when Triple Eight came along it was a no brainer.”

Steve Blackmore, Shareholder, Triple Eight Race Engineering: “Having owned multiple companies over the past 20 years, the prospect of buying into an established and successful business in Triple Eight Race Engineering was really exciting.

“Having had a passion for motorsport that goes back to my childhood, in recent years I had been involved as a personal sponsor of athletes in the sport and teams through my numerous businesses, which fueled my desire to purchase an equity stake in a team.

“I had been looking for an opportunity to transition from sponsor to investor in the sport and the opportunity at Triple Eight was both a perfect opportunity and fit. Triple Eight is without peer in the sport in my opinion and it has a proven track record of delivering results that are consistently the best in motorsports in Australia.

“The opportunity to invest is achievable as the company is self-sufficient with its existing structure, processes and systems and I’ll be able to enjoy participating as a part owner whilst the business not being dependent on me to operate.”

Triple Eight Race Engineering is excited to announce that Broc Feeney will replace Jamie Whincup at Red Bull Ampol Racing in the Supercars Championship for the 2022 season and beyond.

The 18-year-old has signed a multi-year deal with the team which will see him replace the outgoing seven-time series champion, Whincup, and join 2016 Supercars Champion and 2020 Bathurst 1000 winner Shane van Gisbergen as teammate.

Feeney currently leads the Super2 Series, winning four of the six races so far in 2021. The former Super3 Series champion and driver of the team’s 2021 Bathurst 1000 wildcard entry says he’s thrilled to have been given the opportunity to replace a champion of the sport with Triple Eight.

“It’s an amazing opportunity for me to be replacing ‘The GOAT’, Jamie Whincup. It’s so surreal for me at the moment, but I think it will start to kick in at the start of next year,” he said.

“To be aligned with this amazing team in my Super2 season and to be promoted into the main series is a dream come true. To be honest, I always wanted to get to Supercars, but to be behind the wheel of a Red Bull Ampol Racing machine is pretty exciting.

“The Super2 season has been a very important year for me. I knew at the start of the year that there was an opportunity to replace Jamie, and it all depended on how my results went this year. To get four out of six wins this season and winning two out of three rounds has been a great opportunity for me, and this now feels like a big reward.

“When Roland (Dane, Triple Eight Managing Director) told me the news I was in shock. He explained everything to me and basically asked how it sounded – I said it sounded bloody awesome! I got out of that meeting and rang my parents straight away. It was such a big relief as we’ve all put in so much effort the last few years, and it’s a day I’ll never forget.

“It’s such a good place for me to be, considering I’m a rookie coming into the Supercars series. To have the drivers that I’m surrounded by and the knowledge they have is a great opportunity. For the short eight months I’ve been with the team, I’ve learnt so much and I cannot wait to learn more in the next few years.

“My focus at the moment is winning the Super2 championship, and then we’ll set some goals for next year. It is hard to have expectations at the moment going into next season, but I just want to have a consistent year and learn as much as I can. Everyone says the rookie year is the toughest, but I’m looking forward to having a good and consistent year.”

Triple Eight’s retiring champion and future Managing Director, Jamie Whincup added: “It’s obviously big news for Triple Eight that we’ll be bringing on a new recruit which is certainly exciting. It’s a feel-good factor as well for myself and the shareholders to give a young kid an opportunity in one of the best seats in the category and to go out there and prove themselves.

“I’m excited, and certainly everyone within the team is excited, and our fan base should be excited as well. Of course, there’s five more rounds for me to go, but I’m looking forward to giving Broc the keys to whatever number he decides to run next year.

“I think some people will look at this decision and think we would have gone in an ‘established driver’ direction, but we’re not a team that takes things conservatively. We take risks at Triple Eight, we’re on the front foot and we have a crack and lead with our gutfeel, and it seemed right to give Broc the opportunity. Of course, there’s an element of skill, but more importantly than that, certainly for me, is you need someone with good morals and a good attitude who knows the definition of hard work. Broc ticks all of those boxes, but now it’s up to us to make sure we give him a fantastic car and build a fantastic team around him.”

Current Red Bull Ampol Racing driver and future teammate, Shane van Gisbergen added: “It’s a massive change for next year having Broc join the team for next season and beyond, which is a pretty exciting addition. The team, which includes myself, believes in Broc. He’s immersed himself in the team so well this year, and he’s shown everything he can and done all the right things to show that he deserves to be in that car next year. So far this year he’s got the results and put in all the hard work, and he’s leaps and bounds ahead of all of the other candidates that were on the team’s radar. For sure, he’s the best person for the job.

“Broc will have the leadership and guidance of Jamie, Craig and myself to look at, and hopefully we can help bring him up to speed. It is a big step up from the development series, but he has all the tools he needs; the best coaching, best tools, best engineers and best teammates.”
