Feeney Wins, Takes Points Lead into Final Race of Championship Battle

Adelaide Grand Final – Qualifying (Race 33), Top Ten Shootout, & Race 33 Results

Will Brown – Car #1

Qualifying (Race 33) – 6th (1:19.1653)
Top Ten Shootout (Race 33) – 5th (1:20.8484)
Race 33 – 4th
Finals Standings – 3rd

“Today, better qualifying today, in the shootout with sixth is a much better result for us in qualifying then to go out and do our lap and put it in fifth for the race is much better than where we’ve been. Unfortunately for us the shootout times were just getting better and better as the track changed through that session.”

“Getting into the race, got not too bad a start, moved up to I think third at one stage, third or forth but then could see we just didn’t have the pace towards the end no matter how hard we fought. Chaz got me then it was all about keeping Kai behind me. All four finalists up there battling it out was cool, but it was hectic, we’ve all got something to fight for, we were all still in it.”

“Ended up in fourth but behind both Broc and Chaz, so tough old race and tough day but we are still in it and I know we’ll work on the car and come back even stronger tomorrow for one last crack at it. We want to be up there again, we need to be at the front and get that race win to see where that lands us in this battle.”

Broc Feeney – Car #88

Qualifying (Race 33) – 3rd (1:19.0024)
Top Ten Shootout (Race 33) – 1st (1:19.9716)
Race 33 – 1st
Finals Standings – 1st

“Obviously yesterday that poll gave us a lot of confidence going in to today, then it felt like we just made the car better throughout the qualifying session. We got in to the ten and felt good doing it, felt like we could absolutely challenge for pole position and set ourselves up for what I knew was an important race day.”

“Lots of oil down for the start of the shootout, once we got around that we were just able to execute a really good lap, poll by half a second was pretty awesome, it’s another confidence boost for me and in the car for the team.”

“Race start was hectic, I got passed around the outside, got out through the grass and it was jumping everywhere, meant we had quite a few problems in that first part of the race. On top of that we had some technical issues where the engine was sort of cutting out for a bit. As well we took a little bit of damage at the start of the race so all of that and I was really sort of flustered for that first part of the race.”

“We recovered, all came good as we went along and we were able to fight our way forward. To be honest, I didn’t think I was going to have the chance to fight Woody for the win, but the opportunity came up and I took it.
There was a little hole and I was able to fill it, put the car in there and get the move done, go on to walk away with another win.”

“So stoked, the team, they put me in that position to win the race today so huge credit to them. Obviously one win today, hopefully we go for another one tomorrow, one more that’s what we need. Definitely the goal is to go out and get pole position and try and win the race. First and foremost that’s a goal. We can always make improvements and be better tomorrow, so we’ll go do that, go for the win… the easiest way to score big points is be out front.”
