Jamie Whincup will continue to serve as Triple Eight Managing Director and Team Principal.

Roland Dane will continue as non-executive chairman of Triple Eight.

Triple Eight Race Engineering welcomes Earl Evans and Steve Blackmore to the team, who have purchased Jessica Dane’s 30% share of the championship-winning Brisbane-based outfit.

Both Earl and Steve have established themselves over the last two decades as some of Australia’s most distinguished businessmen, holding the CEO roles of their respective businesses; Shaw and Partners Financial Services and Southern Cross Truck Rentals. They are both avid motorsport fans, sponsoring various motorsport teams and drivers through their respective business portfolios. Both bring extensive experience as proven business operators, having navigated numerous economic cycles.

Jessica boasts 15 years of experience in various roles at the Banyo-based powerhouse, which included positions in sub-assembly, Team Coordinator, Communications Manager and Team Manager. She became a co-owner of the team in 2015, before relocating to the United States at the end of 2023 where she currently holds the position of Motorsports Integration Manager at General Motors.

The restructured shareholdings see Jamie Whincup, who bought into the business in 2018, retain his 30% ownership in the team, as well as Tony Quinn who retains his 40% stake. Former Triple Eight Owner and Managing Director, Roland Dane, will remain as the team’s non-Executive Chairman.

The transition of ownership will take immediate effect. Triple Eight’s focus is fully on delivering the best results possible on and off the track for our partners, fans and stakeholders this year and into the future.

Jamie Whincup, Managing Director, Triple Eight Race Engineering: “I’m thrilled to announce these exciting strategic changes as it prepares Triple Eight for the next phase of growth.

“Firstly, we can’t ignore Jess’ enormous contribution to the team over her incredible tenure. She has been an invaluable member of the Triple Eight family since day dot working in all facets of the business. We understand Jess’s commitment to her career aspirations in the US, and we know she will always remain connected to the foundations her father RD (Roland Dane) built.

“In saying that, we are thrilled to welcome Earl and Steve to our shareholder group. Their wealth of business experience will enhance our team and support our continued evolution, strengthening our current programs and engaging new opportunities. Their passion and expertise align perfectly with our vision for the future, and I’m excited to see where we can take it.”

Jessica Dane, Former Shareholder, Triple Eight Race Engineering: “This has certainly been one of the most difficult decisions of my life.

“I’m incredibly proud of what Triple Eight has achieved over the years and honoured to have been able to play a small part along the way. However, I know it’s the right decision. While I’ve lived in the US, I’ve hated that I can only give a fraction of my time, energy and capacity to a team that means so very much to me.

“Some of my earliest memories are at British race tracks in the mid-90s watching the Triple Eight Race Engineering Vauxhall Vectras cutting laps in the British Touring Car Championship. The team has literally been in my family since those days! Additionally, I need to be able to give my all to settling into life in the US and every obligation I have in Australia detracts from that, which I don’t feel is fair for Triple Eight.

“I am delighted that two such passionate people in Earl and Steve are joining Triple Eight. While their business experience is undoubtedly an asset for the board of directors, I felt very strongly that the team deserves people who care about the success and longevity of motorsport as a whole.

“I am very grateful to them for this opportunity to hand 30% of Triple Eight over to people who I know in my gut want the best for the sport, as well as every single member of the team, present and past, who has contributed to some of my very best life memories.”

Earl Evans, Shareholder, Triple Eight Race Engineering: “I was looking for an equity stake in a Supercars team and a business of large scale and size that excelled outside of Supercars, in this case Triple Eight’s engineering and manufacturing entity. Obviously, the team’s success was an added attraction, and there’s certainly a challenge ahead to maintain that success, but at the end of the day it was a perfect fit for me.

“I’ve followed Supercars since I was very young. I’ve watched every Bathurst and every Sandown since I was five years old and have now followed the series for over five decades, so I know the sport very well. I had a taste of Supercars as a sponsor over the past couple of years, and the next logical step was to take an equity position and to take on ownership, that’s why I was looking around in the sport for an opportunity and that’s when this presented itself.

“Our job will be to sit on the board, and my role will be to support the current structure that’s been wildly successful in whatever way I can, whether that be in the commercial space, my business experience or other ways. Essentially, I will be there to support Jamie (Whincup, Managing Director) and the team to continue with its success – that’s my vison. I’ve been in business for 35-years and have a lot of contacts, so hopefully I can break open my rolodex to help the team whoever might be needed.

“5000-percent you will see my face at plenty of Supercars races into the future, I’m so excited to get stuck into it. With the added responsibilities of team ownership, I’m looking forward to amassing myself with this great team wherever I can. I know this team is there to compete and win races at the end of the day, but to me, it was a natural progression to go from team sponsor to team owner, and when Triple Eight came along it was a no brainer.”

Steve Blackmore, Shareholder, Triple Eight Race Engineering: “Having owned multiple companies over the past 20 years, the prospect of buying into an established and successful business in Triple Eight Race Engineering was really exciting.

“Having had a passion for motorsport that goes back to my childhood, in recent years I had been involved as a personal sponsor of athletes in the sport and teams through my numerous businesses, which fueled my desire to purchase an equity stake in a team.

“I had been looking for an opportunity to transition from sponsor to investor in the sport and the opportunity at Triple Eight was both a perfect opportunity and fit. Triple Eight is without peer in the sport in my opinion and it has a proven track record of delivering results that are consistently the best in motorsports in Australia.

“The opportunity to invest is achievable as the company is self-sufficient with its existing structure, processes and systems and I’ll be able to enjoy participating as a part owner whilst the business not being dependent on me to operate.”

Red Bull Ampol Racing announce Richie Stanaway as #97 co-driver for 2023.

Red Bull Ampol Racing is excited to welcome Richie Stanaway to the team, joining three-time Supercars Champion Shane van Gisbergen as co-driver of the #97 Chevrolet Camaro for 2023.

His signing comes after an impressive performance at the 2022 Bathurst 1000 where he teamed up with Supercars legend Greg Murphy as a wildcard entry, qualifying fourth and finishing the race just outside of the top ten.

Stanaway boasts an impressive racing resume in both his native New Zealand and abroad. In 2009, he was crowned New Zealand Formula Ford champion, and backed it up with the German ADAC Formula Masters championship in 2010. The following year, he was crowned German Formula 3 champion before progressing to win races in GP3 and reach the podium in Formula Renault 3.5.

A step up to Formula 1’s major support category GP2 – now known as Formula 2 – in 2015 netted him two race wins, including the feature race victory in Monaco. Richie made his debut in the Supercars Championship in 2016 and won the Sandown 500 in 2017

Richie Stanaway – Driver

“I’m incredibly excited to be joining the team in 2023. It’s a huge opportunity for me and I’m so grateful to work with such an amazing team.

“It’s the best possible outcome for me after doing the wildcard program at Bathurst last year. To drive for, arguably, the best team in the field with the best driver in the category is the best-case scenario as a co-driver – I can’t ask for much more than that.

“For now, it’s about preparing as best as I can and getting my racing mileage up as much as possible. I’ll continue to do a lot of simulator work to stay sharp – that was the main way I prepared for Bathurst in 2022.

“It’s quite refreshing going from having to do the primary driving last year at Bathurst with minimal preparation to having a co-driver role without being in a car a lot of the time. It was quite a big ask to come back last year and take on the primary driver role, obviously because I hadn’t been racing much over the last three years. It’s given me confidence having done that now and stepping into this co[1]driver role.

“I want to thank Boost Mobile and Peter Adderton for their support, as well as Greg Murphy who I drove with last year. They’ve been instrumental in getting me back on the right track which has led to this opportunity. I also want to thank the team at Triple Eight for putting their faith in me and giving me this amazing opportunity.”

Shane van Gisbergen – Driver

“It’s exciting to team up with Richie this year. It was great to see him come back last year, and he did an awesome job at Bathurst with Murph [Greg Murphy].

“This year’s enduro season, especially given the Sandown 500 is back, should give him a chance to get acquainted with the team, a feel for the car and an understanding of how we all work – it’s going to be cool.

“He’s been in some good equipment before as a co-driver and winning Sandown back in 2017. I think with Triple Eight, he has every opportunity to help us get a good result, and I think he’ll be a huge asset for us.

“Richie will attend all of our test days and ride days, and probably a few races throughout the year as well, just to learn how we approach things and become a part of the team as early as possible, so when it comes time to drive he’ll be ready to go.”

Jamie Whincup – Team Principal, Red Bull Ampol Racing

“The team and I are delighted to have Richie teaming up with SVG for this year’s Sandown 500 and Bathurst 1000.

“Triple Eight’s ethos is about providing the necessary resources to support talented drivers in reaching their full potential, which I think we’re yet to see with Richie. His performance at last year’s Bathurst 1000 is a testament to what he can achieve in this sport.

“He’ll be an exciting addition to the team, and I can’t wait to see what this Kiwi-combo can achieve come enduro season.”

Supercheap Auto will take pole position on Triple Eight Race Engineering’s 2023 Bathurst 12 Hour
entry.

The #888 Mercedes-AMG GT3’s PRO line-up will feature Shane van Gisbergen and Broc Feeney, alongside Mercedes-AMG performance driver Maximilian Götz, and will represent Mercedes-AMG in
round one of the Intercontinental GT Challenge Powered by Pirelli.

This year’s event in May, at which PRO-AM was the top class, was hugely successful for Triple Eight, whose two entries finished first and third outright. This was the second win in the famed endurance race for the Brisbane-based team, which also claimed victory in 2017. Last time the Bathurst 12 Hour featured the all-PRO class was 2020 when the final hour came down to the wire and Triple Eight clinched third.

After his recent win at the Bathurst International’s three-hour GT race, Feeney is excited to be taking on Mount Panorama again in an AMG: “Any day you get to drive at Bathurst is a good day, let alone in these cars. It’s really cool to have the top teams and drivers from around the world coming back to Australia, and getting the chance to go head-to-head with them around one of the best race tracks in the world will be next level.”

The 2022 Supercars Championship rookie has competed in the Bathurst 1000 three times and the Bathurst 12 Hour twice, and enjoys the opportunity to diversify as a driver. “It’s definitely an adjustment switching between the right-hand drive supercar and the left-hand drive GT car,” he said, “but once you’ve got your eye in and you’ve tuned in your spatial awareness, it’s so much fun. The AMG GT3 is a weapon and our Supercheap Auto livery is going to look incredible on track. I can’t wait to do our part to try to repeat the Mercedes-AMG podium lock-out we had in 2022.”

Benjamin Ward, Managing Director of Supercheap Auto added: “We’re excited to be partnering with Triple Eight Race Engineering in the 2023 LIQUI MOLY Bathurst 12 Hour event.

“The once-around-the-clock race is a spectacular event with the worlds’ best drivers on track and great entertainment off-track.

“This announcement is an extension of our partnership with Triple Eight and also the Bathurst community, both of which we’re very proud to support.“We can’t wait to get back to the mountain in February and make Bathurst SUPER.”

Stefan Wendl, Head of Mercedes-AMG Customer Racing added: “We’re honored to partner with the championship winning Triple Eight team for the 2023 Bathurst 12 Hour, fielding an all-PRO-outfit.

“With the support of strong partners and in the hands of Shane, Broc and Maxi I believe the team have what it takes to be a competitive trio to tackle the infamous Mount Panorama.”

The 2023 Bathurst 12 Hour is scheduled to run 3-5 February.

It sunk in when I walked out on the podium and everyone was screaming, I didn’t realise how much stuff goes on when you win a race – you get pulled in every direction, it’s so cool and I’m sure later tonight it will sink in and we will realise what we’ve achieved. It was a pretty special moment walking out in front of all of the fans and everyone cheering – it’s a great send off for Holden. I wanted to get the win all year – I left it pretty late but the car was awesome and everything fell our way today, but we also had good speed. I knew it was coming, it was just a matter of time, we just had to put all the pieces together, so to do it like this is a perfect way to send off the year. I felt pretty good out the front, probably calmer than what I do out the back – I could just focus on what I had to do and focus on the lap time and try and mange the gap behind. I felt bad, everyone else in the team has been up on the podium this year, but my boys have been holding back, so it was good to get Marty (Short, Race Engineer) up on the podium, he’s a rookie as well so to get the first race win was special. It’s pretty special, a lot of people have supported me here and I’m sure we will celebrate hard tonight.”

Shane van Gisbergen – Car #1
“It feels pretty awesome to be champion again. It’s been an amazing year, a year of change with our team. The results we’ve had have been pretty amazing and I think we will have a good night tonight. We need to remember the achievements we’ve had and celebrate them, because it’s never going to be like this again, we need to cherish this moment. I think it’s pretty cool and I have allowed myself to enjoy the moment a lot more this year and appreciate how cool it is to be in a team with such a great group of people.”

Jamie Whincup – Team Principal
“It’s been an incredible year – there’s three major trophies for the year; Drivers’ Championship, Bathurst 1000 and the Teams’ Championship. Any year that you can win those is an unbelievable year. Triple Eight is run by the people and certainly the management team. RD (Roland Dane) has engineered a fantastic group of people and we just went out there and executed it all year. There’s been so many extraordinary performances within the group – big ones that are highly publicised on TV, ones that go on behind the scenes, but it’s just been a full group effort, everyone is striving for the one goal, and we all got there together which is something I’m extremely proud of.”

So much stuff went wrong throughout the race – I put it into the fence twice and ran off the track a few times but somehow, we finished eighth. It was the most out of control race I’ve ever been a part of. I’m not sure what it was like to watch from the grandstands, but it was full on to be a part of in the car. There were a lot of marbles just off the edge of the racing line, so if you were a tiny bit off-line or if you were trying to pass someone it was so easy to spear off. We had way too many mistakes, and it was really tough conditions to race in but one positive is that we have pace, so I have no doubt we’ll be more competitive tomorrow. I think I got lucky throughout the race. A lot of drivers had incidents which we managed to stay out of, but I was really frustrated with how I drove. We’ll come back swinging tomorrow.”

Shane van Gisbergen – Car #97
“I was pushing hard all race and obviously made a few mistakes today. Right from the start of the race the front roll bar was broken and was constantly dropping and dropping. The car was still handling itself ok, but I was pushing hard and things just didn’t quite work out. Sometimes you have to have a go, and I was really pushing hard. Chaz (Mostert) and I came together at one point and I was worse off after the collision, but it is what it is. Later on, I made an error and just missed the turn, hit the marbles which were pretty bad out there and unfortunately, I hit the fence. We need a big reset overnight, I need to do better, be calmer and make sure the car is straight so we can do a better job tomorrow.”

We ended up that session in fourth place which was really good and I felt like we had a big improvement from the first practice session. Our qualifying session was going ok at the start. I probably didn’t get the best laps I did in early in the session, but on my last run on my second lap, I was looking like being in the top ten but managed to get a yellow flag at turn nine, so I had to back off and lost a bit of time. When I came out of the corner it was green again and tried to push on, but it wasn’t enough. It was very frustrating because it felt like we should have been in the top ten, but tomorrow’s a new day and we’ll focus on the race car for tomorrow’s final practice session and try to do something different for the race.”

Shane van Gisbergen – Car #1
“My qualifying run was just littered with mistakes. The car was very hard to drive, and I was probably pushing a bit too hard and didn’t back it down enough. I probably should have accepted to try and get into the shootout rather than go all out and I’m pretty pissed off with myself right now. The car obviously wasn’t that great and was impossible to drive on the limit, but we’ll have a catch up with the engineering group tonight and hopefully make some changes before tomorrow’s final practice run. Tomorrow’s race is going to be tough, but we’ll try and get things right for Sunday.”

Red Bull Ampol Racing have revealed their Holden tribute livery to mark the iconic Australian brand’s
final Supercars Championship event at this weekend’s Adelaide 500.

The reveal took place in front of a large contingent of Holden owners and Trade customers at Peter
Page General Motors Trade Parts in Adelaide.

Red Bull Ampol Racing drivers Shane van Gisbergen and Broc Feeney were on hand to reveal the
striking livery, which features Holden logos and badges from its illustrious history on an all-white
design, designed by renowned motorsport livery designer and ex Holden designer, Peter Hughes.

Van Gisbergen, the 2022 Supercars Champion-elect, also announced that he’ll run #1 on his Holden
Commodore supercar for the final event as a fitting nod to the team’s success throughout the 2022
season, and a tribute to Holden’s return to the streets of Adelaide for the final time.

Triple Eight Race Engineering first raced for Holden at the beginning of the 2010 Supercars season to
immediate effect, with Jamie Whincup claiming a clean-sweep of race wins at the opening events in
Abu Dhabi and Bahrain. The team claimed a sensational one-two finish at the Bathurst 1000 in the
same year, kick starting a long and successful partnership between the two organisations.

Holden became co-naming rights partner of the Red Bull Holden Racing Team from 2017 – 2020,
before the brand announced its retirement at the beginning of the 2020 season.

Since the commencement of Triple Eight’s partnership with Holden, the team has claimed a staggering 189 Championship race wins, 137 pole positions, 420 podiums, six Bathurst 1000 wins,
eight Drivers’ Championships, 10 Teams’ Championships and 10 Manufacturers Championships.

Red Bull Ampol Racing’s Holden tribute livery will make its debut when cars hit the street of Adelaide
on Thursday, December 1. Adelaide 500 honours will be contested over two 250-kilometer races on
both Saturday and Sunday.

Quotes

Jamie Whincup, Triple Eight Race Engineering, Managing Director
“There’s certainly no underestimating the significance of this year’s Adelaide 500 – the last Supercars
Championship event for the roaring Lion. Seeing the Holden badge cross the finish line for the final
time on Sunday on its home soil will no doubt pull a heart string.

“Triple Eight’s relationship with Holden started in 2010, and we’ve shared so much success over that
time; 189 wins, 10 manufacturers titles, eight Drivers’ Championships and six Bathurst 1000 wins to
name a few.

“Although it’s a time to reflect and celebrate the legacy of Holden, I want fans to be excited for the
future of the sport with the introduction of Gen3 and the Chevrolet Camaro. Triple Eight, General
Motors and Supercars have put in a mammoth effort over the past three years to get this project on
the track for the beginning of the 2023 season, and I can’t wait to be part of the Camaro vs Mustang
rivalry into the future.”

Shane van Gisbergen, Red Bull Ampol Racing Driver
“I think the Holden tribute livery looks awesome – everyone that has been involved in the design has
done a fantastic job.

“I’ve also decided to run #1 on my car for the final round of the season. We’re in a lucky position
with the championship wrapped up that we can do something cool like this. It’s a thank you to the
entire team because I know they’ve always loved running the #1 and have truly earnt it this year. It
also suits with the last race for Holden running the #1 on the side of the car.

“I’ve got memories of Jamie [Whincup] and Skaifey [Mark Skaife] running the #1 at the start of the
season and winning on the streets of Adelaide, and it was the manufacturing home of Holden, so
hopefully it will be a meaningful tribute to the many employees past and present. It would be great
to win the last race for sure, but if it can’t be me, hopefully it’s another Holden.”

Chris Payne, Chevrolet Racing & Holden Motorsport General Manager
“Feelings will certainly be high at the Adelaide 500 this weekend for the final appearance of a
Holden badged Supercar.

“Holden fans have been passionate supporters since 1948, and this Holden tribute livery from Triple
Eight, combined with the decision by Shane to run the #1, is a fitting way for the Lion to have one
final roar.

“Over 50 years of spirited competition, and at times bitter rivalry between Holden and Ford, will
come to an end on Sunday; but the next exciting era will soon be upon us with Gen3, and we cannot
wait for the debut of the all-new Chevrolet Racing Camaro Supercar in 2023.”

Peter Hughes, Livery Designer/Director, Hughes Motorsport Art
“The idea of an all-white livery with a subtle watermark wasn’t unheard of within Triple Eight, with
Tom [Wilson, Triple Eight Commercial Director] and I floating the idea in the past with no luck on
more than one occasion, so when the opportunity to execute a ‘Final Triple Eight Holden’ livery
presented itself we knew this theme would work perfectly as a truly unique tribute.

“The concept allowed us to celebrate Holden in a very cool and respectful way, impregnating the
whole car with Holden logos and badges from its illustrious history, without taking away or
competing with our current partners. The overall feel is a livery that is Triple Eight DNA through and
through, but also with a tasteful extra twist celebrating Holden.

“I want to extend a huge thankyou to the primary sponsors; Red Bull, Ampol and all the others, for
letting us compromise their brand guidelines just a little to help celebrate an Australian icon. I hope
the fans enjoy and embrace the livery and the celebrations.”

Statistics

Triple Eight x Holden: 2010 – 2022
Drivers’ Championships: 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 & 2017 (Whincup), 2016, 2021 & 2022 (van
Gisbergen)
Bathurst 1000 wins: 2010, 2012, 2015, 2018, 2020, 2022
Teams’ Championships: 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2018, 2021, 2022
Manufacturers Championships: 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2018, 2021, 2022

We had a big improvement over night and just missed out on the shootout which I was pretty gutted by. We made a big step forward today and missed out by I think it was a hundredth, so it was pretty disappointing. I dropped a couple of spots off the start but the car felt really good, it felt like we made an improvement from yesterday and I had plenty of speed on the guys around me. We went through the beach chicane and one of the cars ahead had a big moment, hit a tyre bundle and spun out into the fence and initially I thought I was going to be ok – I slowed right up and was trying to avoid the crash myself and then got a massive whack from behind. That pushed me into the car that was stopped and then into the fence and then another three cars piled into the back of me. Thankfully I’m all good, but just sucks obviously, the car is pretty smashed. This next month is supposed to be focused on building Gen3 cars and now we’ve got to repair our car before Adelaide, so it’s just a shame – we’ve been having such a good year, finishing all the races and being super consistent and then having something that was completely out of our hands, is a shame. It’s been a pretty tough weekend but we’ll bounce back for Adelaide and try and end the season on a high. Shane’s just absolutely smashing it this year with the back to back championships. He has been untouchable the last two seasons, but to do what he’s done this year…he has wiped the floor. It’s just very cool to be a part of the team and to see what he gets to do up close, and learning heaps from him. Hopefully one day I’ll be able to have a good battle with him.”

Shane van Gisbergen – Car #97
“It’s been an awesome weekend, can’t thank the team enough. To come home with a couple of gold surfboard is pretty awesome. I was flipping angry at the red flag, how they let him (Will Davison) keep the lead at the first chicane – I haven’t analysed yet, if he got a tap or if he got off the brakes or whatever, whatever it is I was angry and after that restart I was going through him or around him and I went around him which was good and I just drove away. My car was magic and I was relieved to do it like that and do it properly. In my view in the car it felt like he got off the brake but maybe he got a hit behind, I’m not sure. He got a really good start and we were side by side and I gave him room to go around but when I saw he took the straight I took the apex but then he just came out straight in front instead of side by side, it is what it is, we have this argument every year, I can’t fix it, I just know I fixed it after the restart. I was good to do a few skids after the race. I couldn’t do one yesterday so did one today and seeing Scotty (McLaughlin) up there was bit of encouragement. I want to win more races so for sure we can go to Adelaide as a celebration and have a good time. We also have the chance to celebrate Holden, that’s going to mean a lot to our team and GM so for sure we want to go out with a good result. Everyone wants to be the last Holden winner and the Ford guys probably want to spoil that, so I’ll be there prepared but also ready to party.”

It’s been a pretty long day but overall, we’re just not fast enough. The body’s a little bit sore as well. You’re driving around and you’re not too bad but as soon as you stop and get out of the car, your body seizes up a bit. We’re just going through the normal procedure, we’ve got a physio here and we’ll make sure I’m all good to do it all again tomorrow. I’ve just got to look through everything tonight and see what improvements we can make. Shane won the race and we’re banging around mid-pack. We just need to qualify better, I think in clear air we’re a lot faster than the guys around us, but once you get behind someone it’s so hard to pass and I’m stuck following guys for most of the race, so we’ll try and qualify better tomorrow and be in the mix.”

Shane van Gisbergen – Car #97
“This year has obviously been a massive change for the team with Jamie (Whincup) retiring and taking over the team with the help of Jess (Dane, co-owner) and also RD (Roland Dane) taking that big backwards step. It’s also been a huge change with (David) Cauchi leaving and us getting a new engineer in Andrew (Edwards), but the team has been awesome. Although having no real rule changes has helped, we’ve got a good car that we could continue on with, it’s just been great this year, not many mistakes – a couple from myself which hurt, but it’s been amazing this year and we’ve still got a fair way to go. I don’t want to relax, I want to keep doing the job tomorrow and into Adelaide as well, but it’s been awesome. I had a good battle with Dave (Reynolds) at the start of today’s race – it was fun racing him again. I went out there and got the lead and just raced the gap behind on the dash really and just watched the gap increase. My goal was to get it to 20 seconds and I failed but I just pushed like anything.”

You certainly get pretty close to the walls around here which gets your mind thinking overtime. We got through our plan and are building up through the chicane sections which is where our deficit is. We made a big gain in the second practice session but unfortunately we didn’t quite put a good lap together. Overall, I’m confident we can keep finding those improvements for tomorrow. There’s been plenty of times this year where we’ve been on the back foot in the practice sessions but we’ve managed to come back strong for the qualifying sessions. You really have to push the limits around here to get a good lap time. Especially at the chicanes, you really have to hit those tyre bundles and almost scrape those walls to go fast – that’s where I’ve been losing most of my time. It’s such a cool, crazy track and I’m looking forward to more of it tomorrow.”

Shane van Gisbergen – Car #97
“It’s certainly hot conditions out there, but all of our cooling systems in the cars have been working well. It’s been a huge week for us leading into the event so you really have to stay cool and conserve as much energy when you can, because the races on the weekend will be intense. My car has been pretty good today. I thought I did a mint first sector in that last session, entered turn one with a bit more angle but I popped a kerb sensor. It’s a shame we haven’t improved that system after all of this time but it is what it is, and it’s the same for everyone. It’s certainly a worry heading into qualifying tomorrow but by the sounds of it most drivers are having the same problem. As drivers, you don’t know where the line is, so you’re going to have to wing it and hope for the best.”

Triple Eight Race Engineering is excited to announce that co-naming rights partner, Ampol, has committed to the Supercars Championship by securing a further two years with the team. Alongside Red Bull as co-naming rights partner of Red Bull Ampol Racing, the renewal will see the partnership celebrate 18 years in 2023.

Ampol has been Triple Eight’s longest-standing team partner, first signing with the team in 2005 and have since played a significant supporting role in every single championship success. They were naming-rights partners of the team’s third Supercar in 2016 and 2017 piloted by Craig Lowndes, before returning as naming-right’s partners at the beginning of 2021.

“Our relationship with Ampol began back in 2005, and they’ve been exceptional partners of our team, sharing nine Bathurst 1000 wins, nine Drivers’ Championships and ten Teams’ Championships over this period,” said Triple Eight Race Engineering’s Managing Director, Jamie Whincup.

“We share a mutual passion for motorsport and fuelling the next generation, but the team have particularly enjoyed the last two years representing their relaunch of the iconic Ampol brand.

“The entire Triple Eight team are pumped to have Ampol continue their co-naming rights partnership, alongside Red Bull, and we look forward to sharing an exciting future for both the team, and the sport overall.”

Brent Merrick, Ampol Australia, Executive General Manager of International and New Business said:

“We are pleased to extend Ampol’s co-naming rights partnership with Triple Eight as the official fuel partner of Red Bull Ampol Racing and are excited by the team’s incredible on-track successes of late.

“Peak performance underpins what Amplify Premium Fuels stands for. Our ongoing dedication to developing and maintaining the best fuel technologies and outcomes for our valued customers across Australia is testament to this.

“Motorsport has been an enduring part of Ampol’s fabric for over six decades. Our partnership with Red Bull Ampol Racing is a living example of the esteem Ampol holds Australian sport in and the important role it plays in engaging the wider community.”
