Red Bull Racing Australia is launching into the 2015 V8 Supercars season with a new livery, two new Team Partners and its sights focused on continuing to set the standard in one of the world’s most competitive motorsport categories with Jamie Whincup and Craig Lowndes in the drivers’ seats.
As the sport of V8 Supercars enters an era of evolution, beginning with the exciting new television coverage across Fox Sports and Network Ten, we are thrilled to be welcoming O’Brien ® Glass, and Midas Australia onto the 2015 Red Bull Holdens, as well as Casio Edifice who first appeared on the wing mirrors at the 2014 Sydney 500 ahead of their increased involvement this year. O’Brien ® Glass, Australia’s largest vehicle glass replacement company, will adorn the lower part of the front screen, while Midas Australia, as well as appearing on the rear bars of the Commodores, will also feature prominently across the Red Bull Racing Australia pit bays at events, reflecting their expertise in auto services.
“This year we’re welcoming O’Brien ®, Midas and Casio Edifice onto the car, which is great for the team and for the sport, so we’re really looking forward to showing them what Red Bull Racing Australia is all about,” Craig said.
With Fox Sports’ comprehensive V8 Supercars coverage kicking off this weekend with the Super Test airing live for the first time, it’s a particularly exciting moment to be welcoming three prestigious brands into the sport on two-year contracts with options to extend.
“We’ve got a great season ahead and I’m really looking forward to getting stuck into it with my new engineer in Grant McPherson,” Craig continued. “It’s a fresh start and also a very exciting start. We’re going to have to work very closely and quickly together so he’s got confidence in me, I’ve got confidence in him and then we can hit the ground running.”
As Jamie enters his tenth year with Triple Eight Race Engineering, Red Bull Racing Australia is also pleased to confirm that the record-breaking six-time championship winner will stay with the team until at least 2018.
“I’m obviously very excited to renew my contract with Triple Eight,” Whincup said. “The decision firstly came from the strength of the V8 Supercars category – I think there are some exciting times ahead, especially coming into the phase with the new television deal and later the new generation cars. I can see a really strong future for the series.
“Secondly, I’m honoured that Triple Eight, the best team, wants to retain my services, which I try very hard to maintain, to showcase their engineering.
“A one year contract seemed like a bit of a waste of time with the changes coming in 2017, so the decision was to renew for three years so that I’ll have at least two years with Triple Eight in the new generation cars.”
Team Owner Roland Dane is looking forward to continuing the relationship that has proved to be near unstoppable over the last seven years: “We’re extremely happy that Jamie is staying with Triple Eight for the foreseeable future.
“Though he has nothing to prove with us, he continues to push the boundaries with the utmost professionalism, which is exactly the mentality and approach of Triple Eight.
“Meanwhile, I’m looking forward to sitting down with Craig very soon to discuss 2016 and beyond with him.”
The five-time Bathurst 1000-winning squad is gearing up for another adrenaline-packed season of V8 Supercars racing with Whincup and Lowndes once again behind the wheels of the No.1 and No.888 VF Commodores. With six Drivers and Teams Championships apiece to its name, the team will continue to strive to set the benchmark this year.
The 2015 V8 Supercars championship season gets underway this weekend at Sydney Motorsport Park where the cars will take to the track for two days of testing ahead of the Clipsal 500 February 26-March 1.
