SVG’S TOP 5 TRACKS WORLDWIDE

If there is anyone in the team who has clocked up more frequent flyer points than RD, it’s SVG. Always on the hunt for his next drive, Shane is never in one spot for long, and rumour has it his body clock got lost somewhere over the Mediterranean.

One thing is for certain, no matter where he goes, he usually manages to come home with a suitcase full of silverware and a phone full of snapshots and Snapchats.

So, having driven more tracks than you can poke a car controller stick at, we thought it best to get the low-down and grab SVG’s top five tracks of all time. We also thought we would make it a countdown, you know, to add suspense.

  1. Homebush, Australia

“This track has everything, and it’s a street circuit. To put a good lap together around here is not easy, but it’s a great feeling when you do.”

Ah yes, Homebush-bound, as we have been for so many years. We are feeling a little sentimental thinking that this will be the final year Supercars race around the Sydney track. It has always been a fantastic circuit to finish the season on.

(Five points and a Red Bull for you if you spotted that this photo is not of SVG. Five more points if you’ve worked out that’s because he’s yet to drive at Homebush for us.)

  1. Nurburgring, Germany

“I’ve only ever driven around here in a road car. But that’s scary enough!”

The infamous Nurburging. We’ve heard tales, myths and legends come out of the Nordschleife track. We did see SVG’s attempt in a hire car via Snapchat… And that’s enough for us.

  1. Bathurst, Australia

“One of the craziest tracks I’ve ever seen. Combine it with the rawness of the Supercar and it’s definitely the best driving experience you can get when you’re testing the limits.”

Let’s be honest here, surely Bathurst has no competition? Call us patriotic, but nothing beats Mount Panorama. The atmosphere, the high octane racing, and most of all the people all make it the highlight of our calendar each and every year.

  1. Spa Francorchamps, Belgium

“Eau Rouge, Blanchimont and Pouhon. Say no more. Three mega corners all on the same track, it’s pretty cool!”

This one goes down in the books for most drivers and tops the wish list of many who’ve never driven it; it’s a favourite of Lowndesy’s too. From Formula 1 to the 24 Hours of Spa, this incredible circuit sets the scene for some truly epic racing. We only wish we could add to the fun!

  1. Highlands, New Zealand

“Awesome track with the best corners of the world all mixed together.”

You can take the boy out of New Zealand, but you can’t take New Zealand out of the boy. The 4.1km circuit drew inspiration from some of the world’s most famous tracks and, in turn, made for a bloody brilliant circuit. We wouldn’t mind a hot lap around it to be honest… If only we knew a successful Kiwi racing driver and had some sort of Supercar to do it in… Hmmm…  *adds to bucket list*.

SVG Fall

(That time SVG fell on the podium at Highlands. Sorry mate, we had to share.)
