“What a day, huge day, lots happened. It was great to bounce back so well from qualifying. That’s been a very disappointing part of our year and unfortunately it was again today. All those disappointing qualifying results have been for different reasons, if we knew what it was we’d fix it, but we’ll keep at it and keep trying to put our pace in to a pole position.”

“But our race pace was mega today. I put in as much effort as I could, and we put in a lot of effort behind the scenes between Gold Coast and here to try and improve not only our qualifying but also race pace, and obviously it didn’t work out in qualifying today but we had an awesome race car. When we got into it, when we got up to the front and really pushed, it felt like if Woody wasn’t there I could have had a real shot at the win we were going that well.”

“But to his credit Woody did a fantastic job for Chaz and the team, he played his role perfectly. It was cool to see he’s driving well. So tomorrow it’s all about pushing on, stay in that top four and really hunt for a spot in the Grand Final and push on for the title at Adelaide. That’s the goal.”

Top Ten Shootout (Race 30) – 7th (1:09.1372)

“Today we actually had a decent qualifying, we were decent. We ended up second after that first qualifying session and then just really struggled in the shootout getting temperatures up. I feel like our rivals are able to turn their greens on a little bit better than us at the moment, so I wasn’t overly happy with sort of where we were after the shootout.”

“The race was a big unknown. I got a good start, but then just had to settle it into a rhythm and go around for a bit. At the back end of the first stint and in the middle part of the race I felt really competitive. I felt like, you know, we’re able to get back up into third and hold station with the WAU guys who were out in front and doing fast laps.”

“But then I just struggled a little bit towards the end of that last stint, struggled a lot. Obviously Will was really fast and he went by us on his way to chase those other cars down. There’s lots to learn from that side of the garage in how they’ve turned on the speed in that car, Will was fast.”

“Not overly happy with our day, disappointing to be a bit off but overall we got some decent points to stay where we need to be on the leaderboard. I just, I want to win races again. We haven’t been the most competitive for the last couple of rounds, we’ve been getting beaten by WAU, so we’ll make some changes overnight and try and win a race tomorrow.”

“The best thing to do tomorrow is go out and put it on pole and then you can just run your race from the front. I mean, I’m not going into tomorrow on defense mode at all, I’m going out there to try and win the race tomorrow. Saying that you don’t need to do anything stupid tomorrow, but if we start worrying about points, we will have a bad day.
So we’re just going to go out, put full focus on trying to win the race that’ll put us in a good position to go to Adelaide.”
