“A bit of a weird weekend. I actually felt like Will and I rolled out pretty strongly. He was first, and I felt pretty competitive in that first practice, but we just can’t really seem to get on top of it when it comes to qualifying trim or even pull it together across a whole practice session.”

“We were just on the back foot the whole weekend. I mean, the car didn’t feel horrendous on Friday, but we qualified twelfth or thirteenth or something like that, and we just, to be honest, struggled all weekend from there. There are a couple of things we’ve been working on, but from the get-go, we felt like we were a little bit down on power compared to the other cars out there — even the same manufacturer, the other Mustangs. So we felt like that’s been a bit of a hurdle all weekend, trying to get on top of that. But also, car pace just hasn’t been there overall.”

“So a challenging weekend, one of the most challenging weekends I’ve had in my career, it feels. Probably a tough pill to swallow, not just because of our results here over the last few years, but we know what we’re capable of doing and, at the moment, we’re not doing that. We’re far from that.”

“So we really just need to keep digging hard, trying some new things to get a bit of our mojo back.”

“Probably at the stage of the season where we probably need to start using these next events as some test days — get ready for the end of the year. I think we need to start trying some new things and learning a bit more. Today, we tried something that we haven’t before, which is good, and there are some takeaways from that for next time out. I think, over the weekend, we probably stepped out of the box a little bit more to just try and understand what we’ve got in this car and package. We need to keep doing that. I’d like to say we’re really close to unlocking the magic box, but at the moment we’re still searching for it, so we still have a fair bit of work to do.”

“There’s still three rounds left in the Sprint Cup, there’s plenty of time to go before Enduro Cup, so we just need to keep working. Obviously, the calendar gets a little bit tighter for the next couple of months, which is good, so we can get out there and get after it.”

Race 1 Qualifying: 9th (1:06.3633)
Race 1 Result: 5th

Race 2 Qualifying: 11th (1:06.4323)
Race 2 Result: 5th

Race 3 Qualifying: 6th (1:06.4847)
Top Ten Shoot Out: 6th (1:06.6428)
Race 3 Result: 4th

“So I think we’re seventh now in the Championship, but we’re not just trying to stay in the top ten — we’re trying to move forward. We want to be in the top five, you know. It’s not that many points, really, to get to the top five, and there’s a lot of big races left to go. Bathurst, The Bend — there’s a lot of points on the line. So all we’ll be working to do is try and get into the top five by the Finals and then, you know, have a real crack when we’re there.”

“I think we’re doing a good job of building and getting more solid results. I think we did a better job in both qualifying and racing, consistently in that top ten this weekend, and I think we did a better job in the race runs — we’re out there and able to fight. We got a lot stronger on race pace, so that’s a positive.”

“It felt a little bit more like last year, where we were really strong and could get through the field… We’ve just got to build on that and keep putting it all together.”
