Eseries: Round 3 Recap

There’s always plenty of highs and lows at Bathurst 💥 Get SVG & JDub’s rEcap from Round 3 of the Eseries.

"It was great to have another three good races at Mt Panorama and score some more points. The reverse grid race was a tough one, but I had a heap of fun and managed to climb into the top ten from the back of the grid. It was awesome to race against more cars on the grid last night with the wildcard entries. In my opinion, it should be like this in real life – Bathurst should combine DVS and the Supercars or allow other classes and make it a massively contested event like it used to be. When I first started my Supercars career there was more than thirty cars competing for the great race and it was awesome, so hopefully one day they can make that happen again. The battle with Scotty (McLaughlin) and Brodie (Kostecki) in the last race was good – we had so much fun. I didn’t quite have the pace in the last race, so Brodie passed me and had a great battle for first. I have raced at Watkins Glen before and it’s a pretty awesome track, although I’m unsure what layout it is yet but excited to race at another cool part of the world."

"It was a tough night for me. Unfortunately, the results didn’t reflect the work I’ve been putting in over the last few weeks. As I’ve said, week one was about getting a feel for the Eseries, week two was about building my sim and getting it to where I feel comfortable, and last week I did quite a few hundred laps to get up speed. I felt I was much more competitive this week, however unfortunately I got involved in a couple of silly incidents during the racing which meant I finished down the back again. It’s like normal racing, if you have pace you can get out of the congestion and the results come, so I feel like I’m not too far away from getting out of that mid-pack riffraff. I’m up against guys and girls who have been iRacing for over ten years and I’ve been doing it for a couple of weeks, so while there’s still a bit I need to pick up in driving my main aim is to get the calibration sorted with my sim, and ensure I’m competing up the front of the field for the upcoming Eseries rounds. All in all, I had a good time – I enjoyed the challenge but to make it more fun I want to be more competitive. I wish SVG was around the corner and could come help me out but unfortunately, he’s over the ditch so can’t help."
