Supercars Championship leader Broc Feeney has put the Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs to the ultimate test, taking on his Supercar in a challenge of Tug of War.

NRL and NRLW players Matt Burton, Jacob Preston, Viliame Kikau, Tayla Preston, Alexis Tauaneai & Anglina Teekaraanga-Katoa went head-to-head against Broc Feeney’s Camaro. A vehicle that weighs over 1300kg and has 600+ horse power.

A simple game of Tug of War like you have never seen it before.

“It’s a hard cross over but at the same time, they are operating at the highest level of their sport, and we’re trying to operate at the highest level of ours.”

“I didn’t really know what to expect, but for it to come to life pretty quick has been a lot of fun.”

Feeney currently holds the championship lead at the halfway point of the Supercars Season, while the Bulldogs sit top spot on the NRL Ladder.

It’s the great long haul of the year, chasing the bright Nullabor sunrises and long desert roads. The picturesque landscape of Western Australia returns, as both our boys arrive in Perth ready to rumble.

It’s been a steady return to form for the boys, but BFeen is on an emphatic rise to the Sprint Cup points lead. You might be thinking – “The points are reset after Ipswich, does it really matter about leading the points?” And that’s a fair thought to have, but don’t mention it around Broc. After a dominant weekend down south in Launceston, only blemished by a 0.05s loss to Car #19. If Broc isn’t winning races this year, he is only meters away from winning them! Keep a strong eye on the #88 this weekend, as the ability to lock in and throw down a single lap turn of speed is becoming a serious forte in a championship year where times are tighter than ever. If the Broc Feeney we saw in Tassie shows up in Perth, it’s going to be fun to watch.

On the other side of the garage, Will is getting his mojo back. After a tough weekend over the ditch, Will saw a potential podium slide away on the Saturday, whilst pole and a 3rd was a welcome return to the podium in Tassie. The defending champ is not done, and suggests that he has got “a bit to prove in Perth”. When was the last time you heard that? A podium in 2024 (and a celebratory burnout for a 2nd place?, on ya mate) suggests Will knows his way around Wanneroo and will be a threat as always to be in contention. And while the pundits might have their opinion, Broc and Will sits first and second on the board, and the race te be crowned the inaugural Sprint Cup champion would be a lovely feather in the cap, as we begin the fight to Adelaide.

“I don’t know if Tasmania was better for me. It was one of those weekends when we had a fast car and I just didn’t convert. I feel like I’ve got a bit to prove in Perth this weekend. We’ve been in a lull for probably two rounds now, where I just haven’t got the results I want or need. I’m going to Perth, trying to win a race. That’s the ultimate goal – trying to win races, but also trying to be consistent over the weekend as best I can.”

“I feel like we go into every weekend, pushing as hard as we can, so it remains the same. It’s very hard – you prepare each weekend to be as consistent and competitive as you can, but everyone else is doing a good job as well. So, the emotions going over to Perth are the exact same, but hopefully, we just convert a bit better.”

“I feel like it’s the first time that hopefully we’ve got a little bit of momentum, but it’s really just back to working hard. It’s been so close this year, you can’t rely on previous years or previous rounds to be strong. It’s just about exploring all our options and hitting the ground running. I felt like we found a good direction in the last couple of rounds, and hopefully we can carry that forward.”

“I hope we can take what we learnt in Tasmania to Perth. The tracks are quite different in the sense of what you need to extract a good lap time, but it’s a short lap, and the field’s gonna be as close as ever once again. It’s going to be super challenging for us drivers, but the teams. I hope the car that we had in Tasmania, with a few tweaks, can be strong in Perth. Qualifying’s been a strong point this year, so I think if we can carry that
forward, it’s just about having three good, consistent races and trying to sweep the weekend once again.”

“I’ve always done quite well in Tasmania and Darwin, and have had a win before in Perth. I always enjoy this middle part of the year. I seem to go quite well, and I think it’s just because I enjoy the tracks and enjoy the events that we’re going to. I think we’ve been really fast this year, and Tasmania is probably the first time that we’ve actually converted it into race wins and results. Once again, though, it’s just going to be about executing and doing the best we can with what we’ve got.”

“The car didn’t feel too bad today in the first practice session and the start of the second one. We obviously didn’t end up probably where we wanted to at the end of that second practice having been out on green tires, but it felt like I put a very good lap together.”

“So got a bit of work to do overnight. I think we can, we’re definitely, you know, I think we’re a top five car we just need to piece it together. Obviously, Matt Payne looks extremely fast out there, so we’ve got to have a look at that, see if we can improve overnight.”

“It was good to be back out on track, to be honest, was it was exciting. It’s good to drive again.”

“That first practice session the car felt pretty fast out the gate, but just a little bit of a handful to hang on to. So we sort of tuned that over practice one and felt like we were pretty competitive, especially on our reuse pace.”

“Practice two, once again, car was fast. I was just making a couple of mistakes and we were just trying to make it a little bit more user friendly. So, did a green run at the end like everyone else, got a little bit of traffic, don’t like to use excuses too much, but felt like there was a little bit more left on the table if we’d gotten some clear laps.”

“So, yeah, it’s just busy. It’s peak hour traffic out there. You know, it’s a 55 second lap with 25 cars, so it’s super tight out there. We’ll see how we go tomorrow.”

“This morning it was great to qualify P4 and then go on to get third in the shootout, starting third was good after seeing how close the field was yesterday and how much you want to clear the pack for the race. 
You know, probably one of our better qualifying results lately.”

“Got not a bad start, but overall, just didn’t feel like we had it with the car today. Yesterday, we felt so strong, had really good endurance in the car, and I felt like going into today’s race that we were going to be able to race for the win. 
But unfortunately, just had a bit going on out on track, put myself in a tough position with Golding, and we had some hard racing there. Ultimately, didn’t get the result we wanted.”

“It was looking good mid-race until the safety car allowed a few people to jump us in the pits. We had a strong pit stop, too, then that’s just the way it happened out on track.
So, yeah, ended up fifth. Thought we might be back on for a podium, but overall, solid weekend.”

“That Golding and Wood tussle. I knew they both race hard and I knew going up there at that part of the track, generally, it just ends in tears through there. One person should usually relent, but I knew neither one of them would, and when they came together, I picked up two positions, so I was happy with that.
You never like to see cars crash, especially sitting right behind them, but at the end of the day, everyone’s racing hard out there, and those things are going to happen.”

“Looking forward to Darwin, I’ve had success there. You know, I feel like we’re building back again. I feel like we’ve been in a bit of a lull, and even I’m wanting to get back to where we’re confident and winning and qualifying up the front again. So hopefully, in Darwin we can work hard over the next week and a half to be ready. It’s a short turnaround, so hopefully we can do the work between now and then to have a great race up there.”

“To be honest, today, it was nearly a little bit of a surprise to speed straight out of the garage and into qualifying as well as we did, like first run, we had like two tenths on the field and then from there just managed it through the sessions.
We didn’t really change the car, it was super fast and then went out in the shootout, I knew it was going to be difficult because we were doing second lap runs all weekend but I just really nailed the first three quarters of my lap and got it on poll by two tenths which was awesome.”

“Then the race, once again, got a cracker start and pretty much just managed the race as best as I could for three quarters of it. I built the gap up to about three seconds before our last pit stop, and then after that, the safety car called, and to be honest, at that point, I thought our race was over. 
I thought we were going to be third or something like that once everything tightened up at the restart. But lucky to get away clean and stay in front, sprint finish to the end and super, super stoked to hang on for another win this weekend.”

“Darwin, good results there in the past, I can’t wait to get to Darwin, to be honest. It’s probably been my best track for the last few years, and this one was a little bit of a struggle here last year, so I’m feeling good now. To bounce back and have a really good round here after last year and then be heading into a place like Darwin is awesome, I can’t wait. I just enjoy racing up there. The Indigenous round, we get a new livery. We have the Clontarf Foundation coming up. It’s just a feel-good round. 
I’m always excited to get up there, it is 100% one of my favourite tracks and rounds to go to.”

“Going away from Perth, still leading the Championship and Sprint Cup, I mean, now it’s just about winning races. I mean, it’s been pretty good. We’ve had it really awesome, I suppose, the last couple of rounds and the season so far, but it just feels like Tassie to here we’re just really limiting our mistakes and, you know, continuing our great qualifying and taking that in to our races, which have been awesome. Pit stops are fantastic. The team’s just doing such a good job in all areas and making it easy for us. So, yeah, just excited for the back half of the year.”

“We’ve had a great day in total. You know, qualifying wasn’t the strongest performance, but still put us in a position we could race from at the get go. Two second-place results from our qualifying positions is great.”

“The first race was good. We did an awesome strategy, great pit stop, and good to drive back through the field and get close to Woody (Ryan Wood). Got ourselves on the podium.”

“That second race actually had a bit of everything going on.
Cam (Waters) and Woody were into it. I think that Ryan did a great job, but unfortunately had a mechanical failure, which allowed us all to race in a pack. Broc and I undercut the others and got out in front, then ended up having a good little tussle together, but I couldn’t get past him. He did a fantastic job and didn’t make any mistakes.  I wish I had a bit of a slow teammate to be honest, but I’m joking, but he’s been doing an amazing job, so yeah, happy just to come back and finish where we did.”

“The end of that second race I think Chaz was definitely coming back at me in the end. He pitted well, he had great car speed, I was just trying to save enough so that when he got to me I could keep it straight and keep in front.”

“I think we’ve got really good pace in our cars, so I think that’s a big advantage going into tomorrow. Hopefully, we can use that to our advantage and really have some great races. The hardest thing is Broc’s doing a great job and I think we as a team are as well, so it makes it hard.”

“Today qualifying was pretty good. I felt like we pretty much got the most out of it (the car), but I think that maybe there were a few little errors and that in the first session. But I felt like the second qualifying session, we one hundred percent got the most out of it. So it’s pretty happy with that.”

“You know, I felt like I was pretty happy with today overall and I felt like we probably could have podiumed twice, but just didn’t have the pace in the later half of the first race when those guys who’d changed all four started coming at me pretty quick. So I was a bit disappointed to miss out on a podium there.”

“After qualifying (for race two) where I did up the front, it was good to avoid all the chaos starting off. Great, great strategy by the team and we had really good pace, we were able to come away with a win which is pretty awesome on a day where we probably haven’t been the fastest car out there. We just need to keep chipping away and focusing on ourselves and doing a good job.”

“So stoked with the support from the team. Everyone’s worked real hard in the lead up and then today especially as well.”

“We’re going to need to execute in qualifying tomorrow.
I think it’s going to be really important to do a really good job in qualifying. We’ve got to learn a lot about the car today, I think we made a step forward from race one to race two, but I think Woody and Chaz’s cars still have an edge on us, we still have to work a little bit better tomorrow.”
