Red Bull Racing Australia have, in Lowndesy’s own words, “hit the ground running” on the first day back on track of 2015 at the V8 Supercars SuperTest.
For the No.888 Holden crew, it was all about introducing the new face on the scene to the RBRA ways, as Race Engineer Grant McPherson completed his first day as the man in Craig’s ear.
“We accomplished a lot today to be honest,” Craig said. “We went through a number of changes. Grant is getting used to the way we operate and our mentality, which is great. There were a few areas where he learnt a lot today, but all in all I think we had a very positive day.”
Finishing the three sessions in 21st, 14th and eighth respectively, Lowndesy was pleased with their performance during their first outing of the season.
“We were quite happy with the car at the end. We’ll sit down tonight and go through the changes and tomorrow we’ll make some further adjustments, but all in all I couldn’t be happier.”
Meanwhile, Jamie finished ninth, fourth and 18th in each of the sessions, but said, “You don’t read too much into the times at this stage. We focused on a few race runs and to be honest most cars have no tyres left from last year so we were running round on old tyres all day, not because we wanted to, we’ve just got no tyres in the bank.
“All in all, it was a good, clean day. There were a few little niggles, which is no more than we expected. It was a good day and good to get back in the car and cut some laps.”
Tune into Fox Sports tomorrow from 9am AEDT when the SuperTest will be shown live for the very first time.
