“I didn’t get the best start which meant I got pushed around a bit into turn one and dropped back a few spots. It was getting pretty chaotic up the front, and Chaz (Mostert) went really high up at the hairpin and it looked like he was going around the outside of Shane (van Gisbergen), so I just dropped down on the inside, and next minute he chopped back under the inside of Shane and that’s where I was. We made contact which sucks because it put him out of the race and put me way out the back which was frustrating. From there, we made up a few spots throughout the race, but it was not what we were looking for to start the weekend. I think our car pace was reasonable, but I still think those guys up the front are quite a bit faster, so we definitely have some things to work on.”

“It felt like I had no speed for most of the day and just wallowed around, but we were able to make ground up through the field because the leading cars were taking themselves out. After our pit stop, my car did get a bit better as we’ve been struggling a bit today. The last lap was pretty interesting with Cam (Waters) – I’m not sure if he did side or rear tyres but he had nothing left at the end and we had a good battle for third. On days like today when you’re not the fastest car it’s good to have some luck at times, and I stayed out of trouble and tried to do the best I could. It’s very hard to have a clean whole year as you know, but guys like Brodie (Kostecki) especially has a lot of car speed over us, so we need to find some car speed first.”
