600 race wins for Holden Motorsport

The win by Red Bull Ampol Racing at the Bunnings Trade Perth SuperNight marked an incredible milestone for Holden Motorsport, as it was the 600th race win by the brand in the Australian Touring Car Championship and modern day Supercars Series.

“Holden Motorsport has a long and proud heritage in Australasia, dating back to the late 1960’s,” said Chris Payne, General Manager Chevrolet Racing.

“The win by Shane van Gisbergen gives Holden Motorsport the honour of being the first brand to achieve 600 race wins, which in itself is a remarkable accomplishment.

“This momentous achievement is a nod to the fans, sponsors, teams and drivers who have helped make it all possible over more than 50-years of racing.”

Triple Eight Race Engineering Team Principal, Jamie Whincup, said “It’s a fantastic achievement and we’re exciting to have played a part in this incredible milestone.  We have enjoyed a successful partnership with Holden Motorsport for over a decade and look forward to being a part of many more future successes with GM.  We can’t wait to start racing the Gen3 Camaro to continue our strong relationship with GM and Chevrolet Racing.”

The achievement is particularly timely, as next year marks the introduction of the all-new Gen3 Camaro ZL1 Supercar.

“It’s fitting to achieve this milestone in the final season of Holden Motorsport in the Championship,” said Mr Payne.

“2023 is shaping up to be incredibly exciting thanks to the debut of the new Gen3 Camaro and first full year of Chevrolet Racing.”
