Another week of Supercars All Stars Eseries action calls for another big-name international wildcard, although this one’s a little closer to home.
Jack Doohan, the son of Moto GP legend Mick Doohan and current F3 driver, has been confirmed to compete in Round 5 of the Eseries at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, the home of the Belgium F1 Grand Prix.
Jack will race in a #33 Red Bull Holden Commodore, a similar design to Max Verstappen’s Round 2 challenger.
The 17-year-old says he’s excited to join the Eseries grid, and is looking forward to the challenge of racing a V8 Supercar.
“I’m really looking forward to joining the Red Bull Holden team for the night. The Race is at Spa which is one of my favourite circuits and a new challenge driving a V8 Supercar so it’s going to be an awesome night,” Doohan said.
“I’ve done quite a bit of iRacing with Shane (van Gisbergen) just in hosted online races, it’s been great to be able race with him and obviously he will be really quick in the Eseries like he is in all our online races, so hopefully I can get in some practice and get up to speed.
“Previously at Spa I finished on the podium in Euroformula last year which was quite a good weekend, the long straights and the tight Sector 2 makes for some great racing and it’s one of my favourite tracks.”
Doohan was born in 2003, the same year seven-time title winner Jamie ‘JDub’ Whincup made his full-time Supercars Championship driving debut. Crazy, huh!
He’s currently a member of the Red Bull Junior Team, continuing the same path taken by the likes of Daniel Ricciardo, Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen to a Formula 1 career.
Round 5 of the Supercars All Stars Eseries begins Wednesday night with qualifying at 6:00pm AEST, broadcast exclusively on Fox Sports 506 before racing begins at 7:00pm.
From 7:00pm, racing will be broadcast live on Fox Sports 506, Kayo, Sky Sports (NZ) and 10 Play.
