Kris, or Gooey as he is affectionately known throughout the Triple Eight crew, is one of those guys you’d want on your team every single time. Probably the nicest guy to have ever walked in the doors at Triple Eight, Gooey has been at Triple Eight since 2011, and is an integral cog in the Red Bull Ampol Racing machine.
As the Workshop Manager and Crew Chief, Gooey oversees the whereabouts of every nut, bolt, and race car inside these hallowed walls. Even more to that Gooey helps everyone – literally everyone: Engineering, Accounts, Catering, Commercial, Sub Assembly, Fabrication, and Machining departments, alongside the mechanics, Stores, Panels, Stickers and Logistics departments to keep the workshop ticking as efficiently as possible. Crickey.
Primarily though, Gooey provides and sets the example for all the crew downstairs, ensuring everything is prepared to the best of its ability, but done the best and the fastest – that’s how you win, right?
He is always at the head of the table when it comes to looking for that 1% improvement, changes to our method, and analysis to be better. You’ll most likely find Gooey slinging wheels around during our pitstops, and pretty bloody quickly too (no one will ever understand how much it meant to win the Pit Stop Challenge at Bathurst, Gooey’s golden egg!).
So ,if you are really, really stuck with anything at all and just aren’t sure, just ask Gooey 😉.
