1930 Yet again, team work makes the dream work… What a weekend for our team. Thank you Townsville!

1900 Here’s what the drivers had to say post-race/media/champagne/fist pumps/etc…

Jamie Whincup – Car #1
Qualifying – Third (Fastest Time: 1:12.4759)
Top Ten ShootoutSecond (Lap Time: 1:12.3386)
Race 2 – Second
Championship – Fourth (1,630 points)

“It has been an unbelievable team result today. The story of my day was the start, I had a poor start and dropped back. Throughout the middle, the tyres were okay but I had to go long due to the poor start. All in all, I couldn’t be happier. We’re not getting carried away, it’s one round. If we qualify well across four or five rounds then we can genuinely say we’re making ground. We’re certainly stepping up and working well as a team. It’s a competition and every competition needs a battle, so I think we’re happy we can bring the battle to the competition. I’ve stopped looking at the championship points, the next few rounds are important – I’m a fair way behind and it’ll be a long shot. It’s just about getting in and racing hard. At the end of the year, it’s about looking back and seeing if we had fun. I’m a long way back but certainly a chance.”

Shane van Gisbergen – Car #97
Qualifying – First (Fastest Time: 1:12.2588)
Top Ten ShootoutFirst (Lap Time: 1:12.1042)
Race 2 – First
Championship – Second (1,902 points)

“We had a huge improvement in qualifying this weekend, so hopefully we can carry that momentum on to future events. All three of us made the shootout but my car was awesome – any time you improve your lap time from qualifying to the shootout is good, I’m really happy. In the race, I got an awesome start and led into turn one before settling into a rhythm but Jamie was just quicker in the first stint. Across the second and third stints of the race my car just got better and better. It was a Red Bull Holden battle after the safety car and we were both pushing really hard but I came out ahead which was awesome. Two one-two finishes for the team this weekend, so I can’t thank the guys enough for giving us good cars.”
