Red Bull Racing Australia’s Craig Lowndes is set to head overseas this August to take part in the inaugural Kuala Lumpur City Grand Prix.
Alongside four other entries from the V8 Supercars Championship – Scott McLaughlin, Chaz Mostert, Will Davison and Todd Kelly – Lowndesy and his Red Bull Holden will head to Malaysia as part of a five-car street exhibition.
The August event is the test bed for future KL City Grand Prix, a four-year heads of agreement being announced today by V8 Supercars CEO James Warburton in Malaysia.
The agreement will see the V8 Supercars championship racing on the 3.2km street circuit in Malaysia until 2019, the track twisting through some of the city’s most iconic landmarks, including the Petronas Towers.
V8 Supercars will participate alongside global GT categories at the 2015 KL City Grand Prix, an event which is expected to be broadcast to more than 1.2 billion people across 100 countries.
