“I started a bit further back than what we would have liked today. It wasn’t a great start either which I’ve been struggling with all weekend, but I came into the pits quite early and came back out on the hard tyres to try and get some clear air. I struggled a bit initially when I was on the hard tyres, and I had a bit of pressure from the cars behind me but I managed to hold them off. A few of the drivers in front of me had a few issues and towards the end I had really strong pace, and I ended up being one of the quickest cars out there towards the end of the race. I looked after the tyres really well and came through strong in the end, but unfortunately I received a five-second penalty for a pit lane infringement. Overall, it’s been a pretty tough weekend for me. There hasn’t been one person that got through the week cleanly without a bad result, but I’ve learnt a lot. There’s positives to take out of each and every round, and there are certainly a few from this round.”

“It was so cool to be presented the Larry Perkins Trophy by Larry Perkins himself – it was a real privilege to win that one. I love Larry and his history in the sport, even seeing him now undertaking all of the projects he is and how enthusiastic he is about everything – it’s great. It was a shame to end the race the way it did. I was joking with Chaz (Mostert) before the race and saying that I wasn’t going to make it easy for him on his birthday, but unfortunately I did make it easy on him. I tried to hold off as long as I could but the tyre gave way with only a couple of laps to go which sucked. I made an error and unfortunately the tyre didn’t last. I tried to go slow and take the load off the tyre, but obviously it had other ideas. It’s a shame because we could have won the round by so much more, but it is what it is.”
