Australia may not have an Everest, Kilimanjaro or even a Fuji, but we do have Bathurst’s Mount Panorama, one of the world’s greatest race circuits, and one name has made its mark there more than any other: Holden.
Holden has conquered Mount Panorama 29 times, eight more than all other manufacturers’ tallies combined, with 22 of those taken by a Commodore – including a record seven-straight between 1999 and 2005 – making it the most successful Bathurst nameplate of all time.
To win on the mountain, you must be on top of your game for six hours, 1000km and 161 grueling laps of the world-famous 6.213km track.
As a challenge to the world’s best drivers, Bathurst is unrivalled: 23 incredible corners, massive elevation changes, and a top speed of 300km/h down Conrod straight. It’s an epic roller coaster of a lap.
And in October each year, the drivers racing in the world’s most competitive touring car series – V8 Supercars – head to the mountain for Australia’s Great Race, the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000.
This year, Holden heads back to Mt. Panorama with 11 world-class VF Commodores and 22 drivers all keen to make their mark – and take the brand’s 30th win there.
