Top Ten Snaps: Melbourne 400 2018

Wow, what a weekend! We have only just started to recover from the whirlwind that was the Melbourne 400 (aka Australian Grand Prix). Melbourne put on its typical weather, four seasons in one day, which kept everyone on their toes and created some pretty special moments – check the best of them below.

The bulls have arrived

J-Dub and SVG came into the weekend with the intention to push the all-new Commodores to their potential – and it went both ways.

Not so flash

For SVG, it didn’t really go to plan, with a slow start to the weekend that put him behind the eight ball from the get go.

Pole position, baby!

A happy crew surrounds J-Dub after taking his first (of two) pole positions – this one being his first of the season.

No rest for the wicked, pole position claimed but we’re not finished yet. We have some races to win!

Proud Aussie

One thing that the AGP brings to the table is some national pride; with flags for each driver on podium and the national anthem of the winner blasted over the speakers, it certainly brought out the Aussie/Kiwi rivalry we’ve got going in the Supercars category.

Winner, winner, chicken dinner

J-Dub landed on the podium every single race and managed to secure a win on Saturday morning.

Splashin’ around

Saturday brought patchy rain that caused chaos in Race 3 and divided the field with the risk-takers taking on the slippery conditions and coming out better off.

SVG’s gloomy affair

The car #97 side of the garage didn’t have their way across the weekend – a tough innings.

Twilight magic

As if the patchy rain wasn’t enough, the clouds brought extra darkness to the twilight race on Saturday afternoon – but we aren’t complaining, the spectacle of colour and light gave us a sweet preview of our upcoming Sydney SuperNight race (although we might need to get our headlights to work properly).

Queenslander!

Yep, NRL legend himself Billy Slater dropped by to wish his fellow (adopted) Queenslander some luck ahead of his big race.

The biggest prize of them all…

J-Dub was the overall winner and, as such, claimed the inaugural Larry Perkins Trophy – a masterpiece in itself.
