“The start of the race was super positive. I got a really good launch which allowed me to pass quite a few cars. We were in a good position and I think we could have conserved our position well but then we had the first safety car come out. We thought the safety car in theory was going to help us because we are a one car team, whereas there would be a lot of double stacking happening for the rest of pitlane. If pitlane had run a little smoother it would’ve been a good thing – there was a lot happening. I ran into the back of (James) Courtney and then I got rear-ended and did a bit of bodywork damage, resulting in us losing a fair few places. I could of maybe pushed a little harder, at the end it felt like there was a little more left in the tyres, which is a good learning to take into tomorrow. The racing is so close between the cars, in the end we just didn’t quite have enough pace today. We’ll take the learnings from today and try to deliver some solid results tomorrow.”
