We came, we saw, we got beat up and bruised, but we returned with some silverware – ain’t that the mountain for ya?

We are all well aware of the 2016 Mount Panorama drama, and like every year before it, it did not fail to entertain.

Coming up on top from the Red Bull Racing Australia family was none other than the Kiwi and the Frenchman, taking that second podium step after they battled it out with the best of them over 161 laps.

With the taste of Bathurst still fresh in our mouths, we sat down with Grant “Shippy” McPherson as he takes his bite into Bathurst.

In 25 28 words or less – sum up your Bathurst for us.

It was quite a rewarding result on Sunday after a long and difficult week. The first half of the race was smooth, but the safety cars made the strategy complex.

What was your Bathurst highlight?

Getting on the podium after double stacking three times was a testament to Gizzy’s fighting spirit.  His ability to move forwards while saving fuel.

Fuel was again a major player in this year’s race – is it just really difficult to get the numbers right?

It’s not that difficult to get the numbers right; no-one appeared to run out before the finish. The difficult factor was that all of the safety cars seemed to come at a point where the decision to save or press on was borderline. None of the safety cars was early enough that saving wasn’t an option.

You are currently six points behind leading the PIRTEK Enduro Cup – does #97 have what it takes to bring it home?

Gold Coast is quite similar to Sandown in terms of handling requirement, so we should be able to bring a fast car, and let Shane and Alex have some fun.
