Preview: Ipswich 2015

Jamie Whincup – Car #1

“We head back to Queensland Raceway which is our home track, it’s a simple circuit that we went really well at last year but we did have our challenges. It’s all about trying to move forward and pick up from where we left off at Townsville, we made some big gains on the car and got some good direction so we’ve been working really hard to make sure we continue that. Every round here on is critical for me, no more than Queensland Raceway, it’s going to be good opportunity to show if we’ve really made a gain or we just got lucky at Townsville. It’s good to sleep at home in your own bed and we hope to see a full crowd on the hill.”

Craig Lowndes – Car #888

“Queensland Raceway is a circuit we know really well being our test track. It’s only got six corners but obviously it’s very important to get every corner right. We’ve had some great results in the past so it’s a circuit we should do well at. I’m really looking forward to getting back there and trying to close the points gap down to Frosty. It’s a very good track for the spectators to be able to sit on the hill and see the whole circuit.”

Jamie is hoping to carry the momentum from Townsville to RBRA’s home track, Queensland Raceway. With a great track record and the home advantage behind him, JDub will be pushing to maximise from this weekend and start climbing that points ladder.

Meanwhile, Craig is still hot on Frosty’s heels (or should we say wheels). With the record for the most race wins, eleven, you could say Lowndesy is the master of the ‘Paperclip’.

We return to the SuperSprint format with two 60km races on Saturday and one 200km race on Sunday.
